LONDON: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today announced that India and Britain have signed a civil nuclear agreement, which shows the mutual trust between the two countries. Britain on its part said it supports India's bid for permanent membership of the United Nations Security Council.

"We have today signed civil nuclear agreement, which is a symbol of our mutual trust," Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in a joint statement with Cameron. He also thanked Cameron for Britain's support for India's permanent membership for UN Security Council.

Speaking first, Cameron said India and the UK are natural partners being the oldest and largest democracies. "We both have big ambitions for our relationship," the British PM said.
