Prime Minister Imran Khan and his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi will meet on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan on June 13-14, reported The Print.

The meeting will be the first time the two leaders meet since PM Imran assumed office in August 2018. The meeting is also expected to kickstart talks between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.

An Indian official who confirmed the meeting, told The Print that officials from both sides will be talking behind the scenes over the next few days to set the agenda of the meeting.

PM Imran telephones Modi amid hopes of thaw

PM Imran spoke to Modi last week to congratulate him and his party over the victory in the recent parliamentary elections, reiterating his vision for peace and prosperity in South Asia.

“PM [Imran] spoke to PM Modi today and congratulated him on his party’s electoral victory in Lok Sabha elections in India. PM expressed his desire for both countries to work together for betterment of their peoples,” Foreign Office spokesperson Dr Muhammad Faisal tweeted.

The Pakistani premier was also quick to congratulate Modi over his election victory on May 23 even before the final results were announced.

I don't think so , meetings like this bear no fruit at all and besides our differences are too complicated to be resolved , honestly i think Pakistan and india will never be friends with each other ...

Perfectly right. However, there is no harm in meeting, if it takes place, for maintaining a diplomatic facade.

We don't need to be their friends..
We only need to resolve our issues and if we cannot do that we Atleast need to persuade India to stop using proxy terrorism through Afghanistan.

. . .
You it won't happen ...
Sadly but yes you are true.
But we should not stop trying due to the fear of failure....

Conflict resolution is a strange term, most people can't even grasp it.
But the power of it is too strong.we have been born in conflict neighbourhood.
And we need to get out of it to see real benefits...

Modi will say the same lies same crap of terrorism and bullshit.
Arey jab kutte ka dum sedha nai ho raha tu kyo seedha karna cahte he.
You cant talk with ignorants.

It's very hard to come up with a real solution when you have a coalition government who can pull their support anytime they want. If only IK government had absolute majority things could've been much easier.

Anyway, still hopeful of some positive changes.

Under the prevailing circumstances, a proper resolution of disputes, between India and Pakistan, is close to impossible. Period. Talks may be held for keeping diplomatic facade and decor; but nothing significant would come out of them, neither should be expected.
