Yes staying neutral is a luxury not available to everyone.

True and yet it depends upon how good economic and political stability the country has, so arm twisting some will face more than others. Once the country is stable it is hard to use or manipulate for others.

Joining camps has harmed Pakistan greatly, even if it was forced upon Pakistan (re:Soviet invasion of Afghanistan).

Pakistan should exercise neutrality, and reap the benefits of having relations with all world powers.

All benefits are there in being neutral. When was the last time India sent its army to fight somebody else's war?

Had soviet invasion never happened, had 71 war never happened. We would be a first world country by now.

A country with a much bigger hostile neighbour, weak economy and no base for military technology cannot afford to remain isolated. Being in one camp doesn't imply that we have to blindly follow the camp leader, we did establish friendly relations with China despite being in "US camp".
India though officially non-aligned, was in reality, a part of an undeclared anti-Chinese alliance. And received military and economic aid from Britain and the United States for being a part of such an alliance. That aid helped her immensely in the wars of 65 and 71. Owing to the conflict with China, it was in the good books of both the US and USSR at the same time, a luxury we couldn't afford. Being a part of an un declared anti-China alliance with the United States and Britain is not exactly the same as remaining "neutral".

Nehru, who had shunned military assistance as signifying 'practically becoming aligned to that country' was prepared to accept it after 1962 conflict. He admitted that his policy of non-alignment was impractical. In his words"We were getting out of touch with the reality of the modern word and we were living in an atmosphere of our own creation".[That was the champion of non-alignment having a rude awakening]... He was even prepared to talk for a tacit air defence pact with the United States in case Chinese resumed offensive. In return, he only had to "talk to Pakistan" for the resolution of Kashmir dispute. Which he did by asking us to make the CFL international boundary.
In November 1962, Britain and United States sent missions to Dehli inorder to determine what military assistance India might need. Pakistan obviously was angered that a non-aligned country was getting military assistance. The economic and military aid coming from the West as a part of anti-China alliance helped India raise additional mountain divisions which she readily used against Pakistan in both 65 and 71 wars aside from strengthening and expanding her overall military capability. Economic aid meant that India could now divert funds meant for development towards defence.
Ayub, who was thought to be firmly in the US camp, forged a strong relationship with China during 64-65. He also visited Soviet Union and signed a trade treaty and credit agreement on oil prospecting.

What India's non-alignment was and how deep in the US camp Pakistan was---was not as simple and straight forward as you guys make it sound. Geography and localized conflicts like the 62 war influenced the policies. We who were thought to be "US stooges" had established long lasting relations with China during that time so much so that they delivered 60 F-6 aircraft free of cost before 71 war. Any country can join any camp to reap economic and military benefits, and for those reasons, Pakistan has been firmly in Chinese camp for a long time.

We must be in camp....
We must take no sides ....
We must learn to act independently .

There are no benefits for pakistan in keeping neutral---.

And first and foremost we must learn to work hard and stop waiting for these benefits or peanuts from time to time..
If base is strong we would thrive if not and based on these artificial benefits then we would crumble like house of cards as we have done in the past...

ISLAMABAD (Sputnik), Valentina Shvartsman - Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan told Sputnik in an interview that he was hoping to come to Russia for an official visit and felt it was important that the two countries "move closer."

I hope to go and visit Russia on an official visit, I look forward to that. I just feel that it is important now that Russia and Pakistan move closer," Khan said.

The Pakistani prime minister added that he had only been to Russia once, "a long time ago."

Pakistan wants to buy weapons from Russia and is already in contact with the Russian military regarding the matter, Imran Khan said.

"Yes, we are looking for arms from Russia, and I know our military is already in touch with the Russian military," Khan said.

The prime minister remarked that Pakistan was hoping for tensions with India to decrease first.

"First, we hope that our tension with India decreases, so we do not have to buy arms because we want to spend money on human development," Khan said.

Islamabad is hoping to send trade delegations to Russia and plans to invite Russian delegations to Pakistan to explore investment opportunities, Imran Khan added.


"We hope our trade delegations will soon go to Russia. We will invite Russian trade delegations here, get them opportunities to invest in Pakistan. I do believe that there is a Russian steel company, which is looking to invest in our steel mill in Karachi. In fact it was made by Russia," Khan said.

Indian PM Not to Use Pakistani Airspace Despite Clearance From Islamabad
Pakistan is getting closer to establishing visa-free travel with Russia, Imran Khan stressed.

"Pakistan is going in this direction," Khan said, when asked if it was possible for Russia and Pakistan to get a visa-free regime in the future.

"Seventy countries will now be able to get a visa at the airport. Previously we did not have this agreement with anyone, but now we are opening up Pakistan for tourism, for investment, and we feel that we want to make it easier for countries to come and get a visa. There are seventy countries — and Russia is included in this [list of] countries — who can come, the Russians can come and get a visa at the airport," the prime minister went on to say.
