Trump is a liar, plain and simple:
33b USD? Trump misquotes a report from the Congressional Research Service which lists the aid but clearly states that:
'This figure doesn't include actual dispersed funds. This figure is a sum of $19 billion in security and economic aid and an additional
$14.59 billion from the Coalition Support Fund (CSF), which reimburses US allies for logistical and military support.
However, since 2001, according to USAID, the US has only given Pakistan
$14.79 billion in civilian and military aid, and funds from the CSF have periodically been
revised,
delayed or blocked.'
Pakistan has suffered between 68,000 and 70,000 deaths and conservative cost forecasts list the financial losses at $68billion USD, this figure doesn't include capital flight, loss to local economy or cost of rebuilding infrastructure.
In 2017 the
GLOBAL PEACE INDEX independent report on global terrorism reported:
Despite being placed in the five most impacted countries by terrorism in the world, Pakistan has shown positive results of its efforts to combat terrorism
“The reduction in deaths from terrorism is in part attributable to Operation Zarb-e-Azb by the Pakistani Army; a military effort which started in mid-2014,”
I have been tweeting and sharing the concrete results of military action in Pakistan from 2008 to present and last year's stats paint a different picture than the one Trump paints on Twitter and on T.V.:
The Pakistan Security Report 2017 cites: The internal security situation improved further in 2017 with a 16 percent decrease in the number of terrorist attacks in Pakistan, compared to previous year.
In addition to the ongoing air and ground operations against the Taliban and associated militant networks in the North Waziristan Agency, the Pakistani army began digging a 10 feet wide by 8 feet deep trench spanning some 480km along the Afghan/Pakistan border at the Chaman border crossing in Baluchistan Province.
