PM forms committee to hold talks with protesters

ISLAMABAD: The federal government on Thursday formed a committee to hold talks to end the ongoing protests being staged across the country following a Supreme Court verdict acquitting Asia Bibi, a Christian woman sentenced to death over blasphemy allegations, sources said.

Prime Minister Imran Khan chaired an emergency meeting of the federal cabinet today during which he accorded approval for holding talks with the protesters.

The committee which will hold talks will comprise Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Minister of State for Interior Sheheryar Afridi, the sources added.

Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Minister Noorul Qadri and Minister for National Food Security and Research Sahibzada Mohammad Mehboob Sultan will also be a part of the committee, the sources further said.

The minister for religious affairs will meet with the protesters while the premier will overlook the dialogue process himself, they added.

Religious parties are staging protests in major cities across the country following the top court’s verdict. Roads have been blocked and educational institutes have been closed due to the protests.

On Wednesday, PM Imran backed the Supreme Court's decision in the Asia Bibi case and warned protesters against clashing with the state.

"I'm here only because a Supreme Court verdict was announced today. The way a small section reacted to it and the language that they used, I am forced to address you," PM Imran had said.

"The decision of the judges is according to the constitution and Pakistan's constitution is according to the Holy Quran and Sunnah," he had said, referring to Asia Bibi's acquittal by the apex court.

"Only enemies of the state call for execution of judges and rebellion against the army chief."

PM Imran had further appealed to the nation not to listen to such elements and warned the agitators not to clash with the state or hurt the country only for their vote bank and political gain. "If you do this, the state will fulfill its responsibility," he had said.

.
Ask just one question from protestors..
you should be happy that there is no blasphemy for mohammad P.B.U.H according to supreme court verdicts but why are you unhappy that there is no enough evidence of blasphemy. So what do you actually want do you want to prove blasphemy against P.B.H.U by Asia ? If yes then you protestors are biggest maloon because you want to prove blasphemy just for nothing.

I want to share one of Islamic history

Tulayhah al-Azdi was 3rd who claimed to be a prophet he didn't stop here he used blasphemy against Mohammad P.B.U.H. he also killed two sahaba karam but after many years he apologies for his all sins by writing a letter to hazrat umar and his request was accepted by the khalifa umar.

So Asia also apologised and faced horrible time too during many years.

There should be no committee. A state cannot be held hostage by a minority group. They need to be dealt with an Iron hand and made an example for others who would think of moving against the state. Enough already.

Bad and a failed decision.

These people don’t want to hold “dialogues”. They announced yesterday to go for kill. They should be dealt with the language they understand.
This invitation of dialogue by the Govt is also according to Islamic teaching. You should first talk no matter what if they don't listen then you have all rights to take action.

Islam, Prophet(P.B.U.H) don`t teach this what the hell is wrong with these mullahs even now youtube mullahs are supporting protest.........

There's a twist I didn't expect. I can see the wisdom in the move. They are idiots, you can easily better them in talks. At that point they either back down or take to the road again. That gives govt complete clean chit to do what it likes.

State is failed if they negotiate

Agree. There is no scope for negociations. The only option they can tell them is to talk through the evidence and suggest they appeal the decision in court if they think they can win.

Good first talk and dialogue with them

.
Finally a wise decision.
Since yesterday people are tweeting to PM Imran to form a ulema committee and deal with it politely. He rather taking this step to defuse the situation by engaging them, went on TV to warn them. He has people like Ch.Fawad and others who can go berserk with their statements to justify their party position. The more heavy-handed they'll get, the reaction would be even worse as they're expecting it.

you can talk negotiations with sane people. These people are goons. They have brought halt to the country and destoryed properties.
