No-Offense but few days back there was an attempt to lift
the ban on Bollywood movies, but Civic-Society protested
many of us including. The reason is same as in the 70's.

Sometimes I wonder because of the hard line we take
when preserving the culture do we infact become a bit more Fascist
in Nature....

Why there is a ban on Bolly movies. Ban is not good. Let your movie makers compete, it's make them competent, else they will be lazy and produce Beder Meye Jochna sort of stuffs.

From what I know, they only show old Hollywood films, not the most recent ones.

Back in the old days of Mujib, they banned all foreign films. Pretty much been that way till now. A 40 year ban is just too long in my opinion.

Depends, but does not cross the six-month limit in cineplex.
Movies older then that are shown in old theaters.

Modhumita did premiere Titanic, Brave heart, pearl Harbor back then.

Has something to do with Market revenues.
Its still a small market , we need many more multiplexes
to make premiers cost effective.

Movie industry destroyed due to the deteriorated environment in movie theatres. No gentleman will take their familly to the theatre which is only filled with rickshaw pullers. Not only that, most of the cinema hall run 3X movies in the middle to add some spices..

Nazrul Kavi was an excellent poet. His works have been very famous in entire sub-continent. There is even kavi nazrul railway station in calcutta
