PLZ45 in Kuwait

The latest version of this features a bustle mounted autoloader similar to the Russian 2S19 SPG.

.
PLZ45 was never adopted in great numbers by the PLA, the only known operator is a Sp-ARTY Battalion of the 6th armor division, 38th Group Army, Beijing MR. While PLZ45 is a very powerful weapon and some would argue that it is the most powerful land system the PLA ever had. The gun itself was designed by the famous Canadian Dr Jerry Bull, so it has an NATO origin.

However, its complex design caused a great deal of logistic nightmare for the PLA, while PLA was impressed by it's performance but dislike the huge support tail it required, Thus, norinco went back to the drawing board to come up with a simplified Type04 with russian elements (Type 05 is an export designation) for PLA and it is now in PLA service.

Two thing:
1) Can you provide a sorce I would like to read more about it.
2) Even though it is a complex system to opperate you have to agree that it is very effective system. But ones you have all the little things figured out it can do it's job every well.

1, Check China-defense.com, PLZ91 / PLZ45 thread, sorry for the shameless plug.

Since it made it as the cover of janes back in 1988, it was intended to be an export item thus detail information is available.

2. Like any other complex systems, continue improvement have to be make. an impressive system on paper means nothing in a battlefield.
