Its a good system especially seeing as it beat other competitors for the Kuwaiti contract however Pakistan seems to be sticking to the tried and tested M109 series.

Given that alot of European countries are replacing theirs with PZH 2000s from Germany there is an opportunity to buy surplus SPGs from these countries.

As a long term option for the future it would be good for the Pakistan army.

PA is now the only user of the M109 series. the US army is retiring its guns and the assembly line will be terminated after the final PA order. at some point PA will have to evaluate other systems.

就是,我们的东西是最好的.打印度猪最好的选择!

Have you heard of the Paladin? People also say the same about the US retiring it's entire F-16 fleet.

In time Pakistan could go for the new Chinese PLZ 05 it is one of the newest line of artillary weapon systems offered.

Indeed, around 2010 there should be better details of requirements/procurements. The Swedish Archer system looks even better though much more expensive but the PLZ 05 is definitely top 5 in self propelled's.

I heard that one major flaw of the PZH is the high rate of injury amongst the crew namely the loader/gunner. Would the same hold true for all similar systems?

I agree with you but we will propbably be choosing from 5 or 6 different systems. However if we do go for the Archer system then we should also compliment it with the Arthur artillery designation radar.

Definitely go for ARTHUR, it's quite cost effective at what it does, for Pakistan I think only 20 or so would be needed in total, they are around 7 million usd each and give artillery units a 3rd eye. India has a similar system in development called the BEL Weapon Locating Radar mounted on a Tatra 8x8. They learned quick after Kargil that they severely lacked in this department, due to Pakistan having the AN/TPQ-36 Firefinder radar. I think the US sold India some in 2002.

the Arthur is almost twice as capable and will be used by British forces.

I thought Pakistan already had some capable US systems put to use effectively during the Kargil War.

For any developing country that wants to pack a punch it is one of the best systems out there and the fact that it can match world class systems is a bonus.
