Planning a holiday to........Kashmir!

Hi there, I was wondering if I could get some feedback from some people "in-the-know" on this issue and would appreciate all trolls to steer clear.

Me and my family are considering taking a trip to Kashmir (India), being NRIs we have been to India a few times but only really seen relatives in their homes and never really been outside of Punjab. We have seen various accounts of haw beautiful and picturesque Kashmir looks and have heard encouraging news about a growing tourism industry in the state and would love to go.

I would just like to clear some issues with this with some members who know about such things:
1) is the security situation safe enough for visiting tourists from abroad ?
2) will there be an issue with needing separate visas to enter the state or is is the same as entering any other state in India?
3) are the security forces amiable to foreigners in the state?
4) where/what would you recommend staying/visiting.

security situation is absolutely all right in Kashmir. barring some stray attacks on security forces that too once in a while. normal citizens have nothing to worry. last year my friends went there when there was some unrest but they were not targeted or harmed in any way, rather local kashmiris treated them very nicely.
no type of visa or any other document is required to enter kashmir.
security forces are helpfull to foreigners & fellow countrymen
so go & enjoy kashmir without any fear, it is alright there

What are you saying????? why are you talking about Visa??? Millions of people visit Kashmir Every year for a visit to Vaishno Devi...!!

Kashmir is a beautiful place,i have been there in summers and winters both and winters was the most enjoyable..extremely chilly and be there if you want to be in a snowy heaven

Yep Kashmir ( Minus terrorists) is a heaven on Earth but my personal favourite tourist spot in India is Andaman and Nicobar island, Goa is nothing in front of it..!!

I suggest OP to Visit Andaman & Nicobar Island , thats just an Awesome and most spectacular place...
