Plane lands without wheels

This photo from early 1970s shows Capt. M. M. Salehjee with a crash landed PIA Boeing 707 at Ankara Airport, Turkey. Capt. M. M. Salehjee and Capt. Mohammed Arshad Mir (as co-pilot) were at the controls of aircraft as it approached Ankara Airport for landing. The landing was going to be made by Capt. Mir. The weather was bad and Mir asked Salehjee to take over for the landing. Somehow, Salehjee didn’t hear the request, Mir thought that he had and so the approach was flown with nobody at the controls until impact! The pilots were unable to regain control of the aircraft and it veered off the runway. The Boeing 707's main under carriage collapsed as it struck the runway very hard. As seen in this photo, soon after aircraft's crash landing PIA logo and titles were painted out from its tail and fuselage because Pakistan's then Prime Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto was due to arrive at the same airport on a VVIP PIA flight few days later. Later, this Boeing 707 was repaired and returned to active service with PIA

OK, this is flat-out stupidity, and hopefully no one was hurt.

Any pilot who is worth his license would have seen terrible deviations in the final approach phase, especially with the aim-point and lack of flare, and would have instantly intervened.

In the first video, though, that was superb piloting. Note that the left engine was shut down on short final, and the fuel valve was undoubtedly cut. They probably circled until almost all fuel was expended as well. He did a fantastic job holding the wing off. Landing in that configuration is probably the trickiest of the abnormal gear situations.

Luckily, the aircraft type had its engines mounted high on the wing.

There is actually another incident with PIA pilots not showing presense of mind. This involved a fokker 27.. in which the pilot was trying to live out his old fighter pilot days and tried something that he used to do on his old piston engined fighter.
Got to rotation speed..then raised the gears while on the runway..hoping to keep the aircraft flying at a few meters and then pull up..
unfortunately for him..those stunts are reserved for smaller planes..
Although the fokker stayed in the air for a few moment..it dropped back down and screeched to a halt on its belly.
Thankfully..nobody was hurt.
