PLAN Third Type 052C Luyang II class DDG launched

Still engines are a F**king pain in the A**. Hope we can resolve it soon. They better not screw up like they did with the WS 10 for so long

The engine is the most difficult part to solve.

It also took Soviet about 20 years to solve the engine issues. This is not called as the diamond of the military industry for no reason.

Only US and UK have the most robust jet engine technology.

US can't withdraw from Asia-Pacific. Otherwise, it would cause the domino effect to their global dominance.

However, it would cost them a lot to maintain that huge military expenditures. Meanwhile, China can keep maintaining the pace to catch up.
This is what Americans also said to justify the Vietnam War. That domino effect never happened and all it did was suck the vitality out of the then still booming American economy. Difference this time is the US is already on the precipice of a financial/economic meltdown, its military is not nearly as powerful in comparison to China as it was to Vietnam and China has long-term staying power that will only grow as time goes by.

More like the US and Russia with Russia 1-step behind. UK is more comparable to France.

Yeah, but the loss in Vietnam War didn't cause US to lose its leading position in Asia, this time would be completely different for US to withdraw from the Western Pacific Ocean and abandons Japan and South Korea.

Nope, Rolls-Royce is technically superior to any Russian made engines.

You should learn some facts mate.

For now, in term of the engine, it should be:

US >> UK >>> Russia >= China >> France

I don't think the US will ever withdraw, why would they? Instead I think they will become "relatively" irrelevant as China's rise continues through the decades, especially after they lose their world reserve currency status at which point their annual military budget will rapidly lose purchasing power even though the nominal military budget will remain large.

Only US and Russia have fifth gen fighter engines.
Russia is still working on its 5th gen turbofan. It's supposed to be the rumoured AL-41 aka. "127S" engine. Although I haven't heard anything about it for over a year now while WS-15 seems to be progressing quite well. There's a chance China may even have a 5th gen engine before Russia.
