Take a look at the J-11B program vs that of the J-11A. Over 300+ J-11Bs have been produced while less than 95 of the J-11A remain in service.

There is a reason why the Chinese decided to pursue the J-11B over the J-11A. One simply does not make the effort to replace current weapons with inferior ones.
