Exactly right. 2000-2500 type 96 and type 96G defend against countries that pose little threat.

500 type 99s are used to protect against Russia and eastern foes.

I don't know how people can say Russia is our enemy and US is a potential ally when the US has sanctions relating to any high tech ever and even restricted exports of an Apple Computer to China in the 90's while Russia is willing to sell all of its technology.

Russia stole land from the Qing Dynasty. That was never the Han people's land, that was Manchurians land. It just happened that we didn't defeat Russia in a war so we didn't get our land back.

On the other hand, US still keeps to this day an iron grip on Taiwan and crucial chokepoints like Straits of Malacca.
