Pink Floyd unite to support the Women's Boat to Gaza

David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Roger Waters issue statement in support of campaigners who oppose Israel’s ‘siege of Gaza’ and were arrested this week

It’s 11 years since Pink Floyd reunited to play the Live 8 concert in London, but now the three remaining members have put their differences behind them in common cause. That cause, however, is not music.

Instead, David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Roger Waters have joined together – in word only – to offer their support for the Women’s Boat to Gaza, a group of women from around the world who set sail from Barcelona to Gaza last month, sponsored by the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, a group opposed to Israel’s “siege of Gaza”. The Women’s Boat was intercepted by the Israeli navyearlier this week, and the crew arrested. They are expected to be deported soon.

Roger Waters: 'The most terrifying thing I've done? Stand up in front of 80 10-year-olds'

Pink Floyd’s Facebook page carried a post on Wednesday expressing the support of David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Roger Waters for the women. The same post appeared on Waters’s Facebook page, though not on Gilmour’s.

"Pink Floyd reunites to stand with the Women of the Gaza Freedom Flotilla"

David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Roger Waters stand united in support of the Women of the Gaza Freedom Flotilla, and deplore their illegal arrest and detention in international waters by the Israeli Defense Force.

The Freedom Flotilla said it expected the women to be released quickly, not least because of the attention Pink Floyd’s support had drawn to their cause.

Roger Waters has campaigned on behalf of the Palestinian cause since visiting Israel in 2005. He has called for a cultural boycott of Israel and for institutions to divest themselves of their interests in the country.

Those fans for whom Pink Floyd’s music is of more interest than their politics will at least get some joy on 11 November, when the band release a colossal 27-disc box set, The Early Years 1965-1972, containing huge amounts of previously unreleased music, including the first official releases of Syd Barrett-era rarities such as Vegetable Man and Scream Thy Last Scream.

South African flotidiot press conference turned into a fiasco

The press conference that was supposed to herald the homecoming of the supposedly brave South African volleyballer Leigh Ann Naidoo was marred by the unexpected comments from South Africa's ambassador to Israel, Sisa Ngombane.

Ngombane tried to say that Israel invaded Gaza in 2014 after Palestinians had kidnapped and murdered "two or three" Israeli children, which he attempted to justify. Even though his statements were extremely anti-Israel, the organizers of the press conference were upset at the idea of bringing up any supposed reason for Israeli crimes outside of pure Jewish evil.

“The West Bank suffered gravely because three or two Israeli children were abducted and killed whilst in a neighbourhood in the West Bank. Of course that gave a good excuse for the Israeli Defence Force to go door-to-door in West Bank. This is an untold story and of course Gaza got the headlines because planes flew to Gaza and bombarded Gaza. But the untold story or the less known story that it is the Palestinians in the West Bank who live day to day with the IDF. And of course when actions, they may be well intended, are taken which provoke this type of thing, those families are in the forefront. We must always remember that,” he said.

He was then interrupted by one of the organizers, Women’s Boat to Gaza spokesperson, Zeenat Adam, saying "I'm going to ask you to stop" and prompting the anti-Israel drones to start chanting slogans "Free, free Palestine! Down, down Israel!"

Ngombane refused to relinquish the mic, and then read the official statement he was supposed to read. Then Ziyad Pattel, a lawyer for the "Women's Boat to Gaza," said that the ambassador "must understand that this is a pro-Palestinian event" and he has no right to say anything other than the sanctioned narrative of pure Palestinian victimhood.

Afterwards, Leigh Ann Naidoo tearfully lied by claiming that at the same moment that she and the other flotidiots were photographed being given food by Israelis, women in Gaza were being bombed while waiting for her boat to arrive on the shore (1:30).

According to other accounts, she also said that there were no other boats in Gaza, and that she doesn't think any aid managed to get there.

She is so well-informed!

Her lies continued in South African TV, where TV hosts didn't challenge her astonishing naivete in the least.

Stop pretending to care about our Arab brothers and sisters in Palestine when you have not fought a single time against Israel and while you deeply, deeply hate Arabs, especially Sunni Muslim Arabs which 99% of all Muslim Palestinians are.

Please do not fool people here. You hate Arabs and Muslims like most Iranians. You want to kill Arabs and Muslims.

Should you not be bothering Iranian Arabs? Come on, you can do it!

I can't access your profile page mate. It says you limit those whom can view it etc.

Before I disrespect you don't quote me. You have killed millions of Arabs and support Zionists against fellow Muslims.

What the hell do you to see on his/her profile?

FYI s/he has created dozens of ids with false and saudi flags and all of them have different second flags! (the location living)

Calm down Bro, despite all the trolling and argument, at the end of the day most the Saudis users would like to see better relations between us. I actually know many Saudis in real life. They're cool people.
We should try to build better Nation-Nation relations. But sadly every-time we try to develop better relations, something happens and it is reset. There's so many years of distrust and animosity that it complicates things greatly. But whilst we're at each others throats, the outside world watches and takes advantage.

These regional nations need to sit down like adults and manage and maybe even find solutions their problems. They should do this without any non regional state at the table.

We should chill a bit in the future, lol.

No offense from my part. Just PDF.

It's the way of this forum. No matter how much you try to remain constructive, you always end up arguing instead

I was trolling earlier in this thread. I don't believe that @2800 hates Arabs either although he is sometimes too harsh in his criticism and bias.

Faravahar, I know several Iranians in person as well. A few of them I consider close friends. There have never been any problems. Arabs and Iranians cooperate in the West and frequent each others food stores, restaurants etc. if they miss MENA cuisine. I don't have any problem either nor am I serious in such childish discussions. Sometimes it is comically fun.

I agree. There is a big potential between KSA and Iran. Let alone the neighboring GCC and wider Arab world. Hopefully relations will improve soon as this is very much needed.

I apologize if I offended you earlier. I am not as bad as you might think, lol.

@2800 I believe that we should have constructive discussions instead. Otherwise we are wasting our time here.

"Can we be adults here??!!!"

I don't usually do videos but I did this one. I hope the ambassador has learned his lesson about what true tyranny is like: there is no fairness, no turn-taking, no voice without the approval of the tyrants. You must either submit to them or rebel - and that rebellion can only take the form of violence - that is, if you want to live as a free people, there can be no tolerance of those who cannot be tolerant of others.
