2010年10月21日，“第二届中国新疆国际旅游摄影节暨国际胡杨节”在乌鲁木齐开幕。该活动以“新疆是个好地方”为主题，吸引了国内60多家媒体记者与众多摄影爱好者参加。应人民摄影报社之邀，我有幸参加了由新疆维吾尔自治区旅游局和人民摄影报社主办的这次采风活动。
十几天的采风，一直下着绵绵细雨。一阵微风掠过，蓦然感觉到雨水打湿脸颊的丝丝寒意，但这并没影响我们的创作热情。我们顶风冒雨一路前行，时常被这里辽阔壮丽的自然山川，坚韧挺拔的胡杨林，浩瀚神秘的大漠所震撼。每到一处，大家都举起“长枪短炮”，不停地咔嚓、咔嚓，用相机捕捉一个个精彩的画面，永久地定格在这方寸之间……
新疆的晚秋太美了，她的美是圣洁的美，原生态的美，美得让人留恋，美得让人心醉……
最令人难忘的，是在大漠中顽强地展现自己生命力的植物——胡杨。
胡杨又称胡桐、梧桐、异叶杨，为杨柳科落叶乔木。1935年在我国新疆库车和甘肃敦煌发现了胡杨化石，考证出胡杨约有6500万年历史。胡杨主要分布于中国、蒙古和地中海沿岸等20多个国家的干旱地区。全世界的胡杨百分之九十在中国，中国的胡杨百分之九十在新疆塔里木盆地。仅塔里木盆地的胡杨保护区面积，就达到了3800平方公里。北疆准噶尔盆地的木垒、内蒙古额济纳、青海柴达木盆地、甘肃河西走廊及宁夏等均有零星分布。
