This way Pakistan is not making enough on its exports of mangoes which are unique to Pakistan.
Because no other nation is able to re-export Pakistani mangoes.
Perishable cargo is not suitable for re-export.

So why not command the better price?

They (the merchants/traders/growers) sell at their own price (which itself can be higher than local price but not as high as $5) but since they are uneducated/illiterate in the knowledge of economics & finance, they can't leverage their mangoes.

On the other hand, since the mangoes are imports, it gives all the more reason for KL stores/supermarkets to increase their price even if they were bought for $2-3.
