Philippine Air Force was offered some great aircrafts like F 16, su 27, mig 29, F 18 but nothing materialised.

I think they can also look into the JF17 program especially newer blocks coming out.

We were offered F-16 back in 2012 but due to financial issues and the fact that the PH Air Force had no jet fighter from 2005 to 2015, the PH govt. decided not to proceed with the deal.

Basically, the PH Air Force is back to "Square One", thus the reason for the procurement of the FA-50 is that these lead-in fighter aircraft will be used for advance avionics familiarization before procuring advance fighter.

The most likely candidate for a future fighter aircraft are the American F-16 and the Swedish JAS 39.

Off Course, such practice by USA and the SUPERPOWERS are unacceptable to at least 2 of the 4 littoral states in the Strait of Malacca which maintain their rights to be keep informed when navigation including the undersea occurs as it breach their security. Failing to do so will deem you as biased.
