Phalcon AWACS

Sorry, i was posting more from the point of view of general interest in the sub-continent Awacs acquisitions. Since Pakistani Awacs will be very much relevant in context of Indian Awacs, I thought it will be of relevance here.
Otherwise, I am also interested to know whether sharing IAF pics in this forum generally discouraged or not? Since it is a soft issue, if I know the rules I will abide by them.

Talking bout the rotodomes, I think it is static dome housing the phase array radar......

Thanks

Thanks a lot for those great pics man.

and about posting pics of IAF, we'd love to see them. just make sure you post them in the correct section.

These do not look to be the pictures of the IAF Phalcon. The IAF Phalcon will not have a rotodome. The Israeli radar would either be a nose mount or a side mount. At least the first picture shows a rotodome. Am I off here?

Blain it is not a rotodome but a static dome. The radar is placed in the form of a triangle inside the static dome

Didn't someone tell here that Phalcon was AWACS and Saab2000 was just AEW+C? How come the Elta add is about AEW+C.... :)

Whoever said that was probably confused. The first generation of such surveillance aircraft were all lumped together under the AWACS acronym. The new acronym AEW&C is the more recent definition of this capability. Overall they are used interchangeably even though there are minor architecture and systems differences between the two terms.

So why exactly is it not mounted over the nose of the aircraft similar to Israel? If one examines the video posted above, it cleary rejects the rotodom in favour of the nose mounted.
