Unfortunately; these guys (along with some others of some other Nationalities including Indians) were serving on a MERCHANT SHIP registered in a FOC (Flag of Convenience) i.e. Loosely Regulated Country and MOST IMPORTANTLY; were heavily armed with Lethal Weapons. Then they entered National Waters without legal authorisation, to compound matters; they did not declare the weaponry on board!

So under laws (International Laws); they enjoy the status of Armed Mercenaries on what can be considered to be a PIRATE ROVER on the High Seas and their (hidden and undeclared) Weaponry has the status of DANGEROUS CONTRABAND.
That is the Legal Status now attached to the Ship, its Crew and its Cargo/Eqpt. No Petitions can hold in these circumstances I'm afraid, till the legal proceedings are current.

They have to be subjected to the appropriate Laws. They ought to have known better......

It is not 91 million, it is 105 million. That is SNAP, disability, and social security payments. 75% Americans are 1-2 paychecks away from poverty line. 51% Americans under or at poverty line which is $11,490 for a family of 4.

India has an home ownership of greater than 80% with a huge percent of them owning their own farmland. Indian saving rate has been greater than 30% of our GDP for the last decade. Just the postal savings is more than a trillion dollar. India is much richer than USA in real terms.

Read the " The sunday post" report , they refused to cooperate with law enforcers and even resisted to hand over their documents .Honest people would not do so .They are rightly being put in prison .. All of them could be next David C Headly. They must not be released until entire matter is thoroughly investigated..

I am sorry but the petition is run by British people for the Britons captured. The Indians, Estonians, Ukrainians can petition their own GOVERNMENTS. Also soldiers, present or former are worth a million "diplomats"

LOLL, the British Security Estt. gave security clearance to a bunch of ex-soldiers to act as Mercenaries on a Merchant Ship registered in some obscure African country which has as much legal status as a "Pirate Rover" on the High Seas?

Then the British Security Estt. has abysmal procedures in place; which need to be examined seriously.

Then again; I'm also reminded of a similar role of British Ex-Servicemen funtioning as Mercenaries in the past in Africa !
Remember that Maggie Thatcher's son was connected to one such scandal.

Therefore; the Petition is not worth more than the 'paper that its written on'. Let the Law take its own course. India has not yet forgotten the role of Peter Bleach (an arms-runner) in the Purulia Arms-Dropping case yet.

You don't know what your talking about so best to be silent. All security contractors from the UK need to have a SIA licenses for their respective role including SSO: Ship Security Officer role. The process for this involves a DBS check, a CRB check and credit and background checks from the SIA: Home

Furthermore all soldiers carry DV level national security clearance which is valid for up to 5 years post leaving their role within the forces. National security vetting for the Armed Services - Detailed guidance - GOV.UK

They were licensed security operators, not some US / CIA mercenaries.
