A petition challenging the lifetime ban on former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif has been filed in the Supreme Court.

The petition was filed through Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) president Ahsan Bhoon and the federal government has been made party in the petition.

The petition prayed the court to apply the rule of lifetime disqualification only in electoral disputes. The plea also sought interpretation of Article 184 and Article 99.

Majority is decided by elections, which PMLN lost last time. Otherwise anyone can say ‘we have the majority’ - such as Tahirul Qadri, Molana Fazlur Rahman, TLP etc. They all think the people are with them and elections were rigged.

By hook or crook - that seems to be the case for PMLN anyway - right from Zia, IJI etc. Turkey like revolution wont happen via twitter and sitting in luxurious flats in London on dubious medical pretenses. And PMLN has tried revolution many times - vote ko izzat do rallies is one example from recent past.
