Penalise India if it backs out of series with Pakistan: Javed Miandad
New Delhi: Former Pakistan batsman Javed Miandad has cautioned Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) against rushing into preparations for its proposed series with India in Sri Lanka as according to him "India could not be trusted to keep its commitment".
Expressing doubts over India’s commitment the former cricketer said that he was not sure that India would play the series as ‘they had always tried to let down Pakistan’.
Known for his anti India stance, Miandad stressed that arrangements for series should only be done after India makes a written commitment.
“Both the PCB and the Sri Lanka Cricket (board) must first get India's consent in black and white and if they back out of the agreement then they should be penalised,” Miandad told a Pakistan News agency.
Accusing BCCI of continuously changing its stance, Miandad said that India might again back out any moment.
Miandad said first the Indian board seemed ready to play the series and when the PCB got the government's approval the BCCI officials started hyping that they required their government's permission.
He also said that It is India that has created problems in cricketing ties between two countries.
Earlier Miandad had compared current India to Hitler-era Germany drawing parallel between Fascist ruler and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Notably, Dawood's daughter is married to Miandad's son, a major reason why Miandad is so sceptical about India.
According to experts, Miandad is apprehensive that Indian security agencies may try to get hold of Dawood with the help of recently captured underworld don Chhota Rajan, a rival of Dawood.
