PEMRA Decides to Suspend ARY News License. Democracy at its best.

the issue is not of GEO or ARY. The issue is about autonomous regulatory body. Why is PMLN government (and so was PPP) so scared to appoint full time professionals as heads of these regulatory bodies? Why is every other regulatory body working only under 'acting chairman'? its a horrible state of affairs that this country is regulated by bodies headed by political stooges.

Yes, we need all of these political stooges to be replaced by retired Generals, just like in many other posts, so they can toe a better line. :D

Jaahil ahmaqon key moonh mata laga karo. There is a very good word in Urdu for such fools, it is called "Kaj Behes", a person who argues for the sake of argument. I have yet to find a word in English that best describes 'Kaj Behes' as several words have been used such as provocative, argumentative, quarrelsome, disputatious, truculent, contentious.
At any rate, the best is to remember the following quotation:
“Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.”

Quoted for the record as an example of juvenile name-calling and personal attack. Why don't you try responding to the content of the posts rather than stupid remarks like these?

there is a thing called professionals who are appointed as heads of regulatory bodies in the modern world. They are not acting chairmen who could be manoeuvred according to the political desires.

Yes, but you are assuming that any formally appointed professional chairperson would be immune from such pressures, which is not necessarily true, specially so in Pakistan.

but i believe that a professional appointed with a tenure post is the best possible outcome. That is how its supposed to be in Pakistan as per law but interestingly PMLN has a habit of appointing 'acting chairmen' rather than full time person with a fixed tenure.

You belief is correct Sir, but only if tenure means something. There was a time when appointed bureaucrats were immune to such political pressures, but thanks to Bhutto's meddling with Civil Service Rules, that is a thing of the past, as I am sure you know. It is not just PMLN but any government that now misuses the apparati to its heart's content while in power.

If I remember correctly, there is also a court ruling on this matter that discourages the governments to appoint ad hoc heads of certain institutions. However, like many other court rulings, PML(N) has ignored it and yet again appointed an ad hoc Chairperson of PEMRA so he could easily be manipulated. COAS (unsure about air and naval chiefs) and CJ are perhaps the only two top positions which are relatively safe from corrupt Pakistani political regimes.

there is some ruling in the Khawaja Asif case where SC directed the govt to appoint professionals using a transparent consultative process. But this was when PMLN was in opposition. since now they are in the govt, (i have heard) they are apparently planning to appeal against it. lol

This heavily adulterated constitution needs to be re-written from scratch it seems and engraved on Titanium plates and stored in a vault on Mars so it is safe from the accession of corrupt Pakistani politicians. Pathetic creatures.

Good move, ARY is increasingly an anti-Pakistan channel.

Not suspend it, permanently close it, for good.

.
