Geo got a legit ban, here ARY got a ban due to what? Biased coverage!? lol go check tv news channels in foreign countries and then say if ARY deserved to get a ban lol. Does a stupid channel like FOX News get banned even? No they let it roll so that people see its true face.

Where were your democratic values when Geo was banned earlier in the year or when Hamid Mir was attacked or when wali khan babr was killed? How about when Musharraf banned them and made them take off their most famous shows/anchors.

Geo has stood for freedom of speech long before you even learned how to spell ARY. Know your history before spewing biasedness similarly to what ARY does on a daily basis.

Geo was rightly banned due to them without any proof accusing the ISI chief of attempting to murder Hamid mir..plus they did a full propaganda against the Pak army..even before Geo loves to involve Pak army in every bad situation that occurs in Pak but that day Geo clearly crossed the Line. I don't condone whatever happened to Hamid Mir nor i condone shamelessly accusing our Intelligence service for it without any proof. It becomes a state issue then rather than a normal political one.

Geo did stood for Freedom of speech at that time but once you get at the top you start to loose your conscience and think of yourself as a King that can do anything and will not be held accountable for. Geo got its deserved treatement. However If ARY does the same thing then sure let them have the taste of bans too..No channel should think of itself as one that is untouchable no matter what and that it cannot be held accountable for anything.

In Pakistan, we need some serious Laws and Regulations for media to follow. Our Pakistani media has become a joke where every anchor do programs against judiciary, Army, show disturbing images, giving air time to TTP & other groups and character assignations etc.

If you attack a state institution without any sort of proofs then sure. Either its ARY OR Geo..it should be dealt with. Geo has a history of trying to defame the Pak army and supporting India against Pak. ARY shows other people's opinions even if their biased against the govt.

Yeah right, attacking the government is okay when it is in the right, but attacking the Army is not, even when it is illegal and murderous. Right. After all, journalists disappear and get shot on their own, and are not allowed to make accusations to be investigated that a media channel can report on. Right!

ISLAMABAD: In compliance with an order of the Lahore High Court (LHC), the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) banned on Monday a local TV channel, ARY News for a period of 15 days and imposed a fine of Rs10 million for airing a derogatory programme against the judiciary.

A special meeting of Pemra was called in today to review the talk show anchored by Mubasher Lucman on the orders of LHC. Pemra officials found the show in contravention with the Pemra act and it’s code of conduct.

The regulatory authority had also banned Lucman and his programme “Khara Sach” on Saturday.

Earlier on Friday, the LHC issued bailable arrest warrants of ARY News chief executive officer Salman Iqbal, Mubashir Lucman, the programme’s producer and one Asim Malik for not appearing before the court despite having been summoned.

The court placed restrictions on airing of the show and participation of the anchor in any other TV programme.

It ordered inclusion of the name of Lucman in the Exit Control List (ECL) and summoned the attorney general, Punjab advocate general, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) director general and Lahore district coordination officer on Oct 21.

Justice Syed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi issued the orders while hearing a suo motu notice against the respondents for airing an interview of Asim Malik, owner of a firm, Future Concern, in which serious allegations had been levelled against him.

Journalist's job is to be critical of the govt. and its opposition...not attacking the army without ANY proofs. Geo was as blunt as it could be without any proofs.
