An Afghan lawmaker and the chief executive of the national congress party of Afghanistan Abdul Latif Pedram has said his party recognizes Durand Line as the international border between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The statement by Pedram comes in contrast with the former and current Afghan government officials who have long been rejecting to recognize Durand Line as an international border.

“I once again announce that the line is an international border and Afghanistan and Pakistan should respect each other and respect the border of each other and refrain from interfering in internal affairs of each other,” he was quoted as saying in a report by VOA’s Afghanistan service.

This comes as the former Afghan President Hamid Karzai said last month Afghanistan will not recognize Durand Line as a formal border between Afghanistan and Pakistan as he reacted towards Pakistan’s move to close the transit and travel routes between the two countries.

“The Govt of Pakistan has no legal authority to dictate terms on the Durand line.while we wish freedom for the people of #FATA from FCR and other repressive measures, we remind the Govt of #Pakistan that #Afghanistan hasn’t and will not recognize the #Durand line.” Karzai said.

Karzai made the remarks after Pakistan unilaterally closed the transit and travel routes along the line in late February but the routes were opened after the Pakistani Prime Minister issued a decree on 20th March to immediate open the routes.

The Pakistani authorities decided to close the routes following a series of attacks last month which led to the death of scores of people while hundreds of others were wounded.

The attacks resulted into escalation of tensions between the officials of the two countries as the top diplomats were summoned both by Islamabad and Kabul regarding the presence of the alleged terrorists sanctuaries on the soils of the two countries.

Islamabad handed over a list of at least 76 terrorists demanding Kabul to take actions against them which they alleged are involved in a series of attacks using the Afghan soil.

It does not matter who says what in Afghanistan.. whether they respect or not.. It is international boundary recognized by whole world... Some of the Afghan govt official are claiming it as dispute only as a reason to enter Pakistan freely and plant bomb wherever they want.. :taz:

Thats all we require a realistic Afghan!!

Afghanistan needs Pakistan on side, but their dum dum politicians are intent on pissing us off, which is fine but they then expect us to bend over backwards trying to help them
All the while they try to goad us thorough statements and reaching out to our mortal enemy india

The Afghans are learning the hard way, but they will learn

Doesn't matter they recognize it or not. It's there.

And in fact, if Pakistani leaders (both civil & military) had played their card wisely, they could have demanded more Pashtun territories from present day Afghanistan. As Pakistan has biggest Pashtun population, or they could have just captured it. History gave multiple chances. One of which was just after 911, when border villages of Afghanistan raised Pakistani flags to show themselves as in Pakistan territory. They just didn't want to be ruled by Northern Alliance. But Pakistani leader Gen. Musharraf was sitting like a hen on eggs and missed the opportunity once more time.

At that time Afghan hearts and minds were in favor of Pakistan. Now, it's not like that. US, India and allies have raised new brainwashed young nation, with poison filled against Pakistan in their minds. It's been 17 years now that they are poisoning the Afghans. Meanwhile Pakistani leadership is still like a hen sitting on eggs, unaware of anything in surroundings.

These sitting hens have lost all the hard work of Pakistani nation of last three decades. Keeping Afghans as guests for 40 years, and instead of gaining something from them, these dumb and greedy leaders turned them into enemies of Pakistan. That was bound to happen, when Pakistanis chose rotten potatoes as their leaders.

Even World gives more importance to what the president of Uganda said than these loafers.

I agree with you and also want to add that even in the 1950s when the Afghan army had tried to annex the tribal belt, that was also an opportunity to annex if not all of Afghanistan then atleast the Pukhtoon areas.

Anyway thats history and the world moves in circle, there will be more opportunities in the future. But to avail them when the time comes, we need to get our house in order. Listed below are some of the issues we need to address

1. Revamp the form of government as the existing form has failed the people
2. Reorganize the Judicial System, as again its just not providing justice at any level
3. Trace and eliminate all anti-nationals where ever they exist in the world
4. Ban and eliminate any sects that promote extremists view like Wahabism and promote tolerance.

Once these steps are taken, Pakistan will take off and other nations will willingly join up

We dont care weather they accept the DL as International border or not.what we,re concerned about is how to stop these lunatics from entering and bombing pakistan.

I can't think beyond his name, Pedram...what kind of name is this!

Interesting character. He also advocates changing the name of the country to Khorasan, which is fair enough. Imagine Pakistan being called Punjabistan or Sindhistan.

Do you have a link/source for this?

Pakistan's medieval, head-chopping, insecure-about-women-driving; Saudi partners may have an issue with this.

He is a Tajik, so it makes sense, "Loy Afghanistan" will be worst case scenario for them.

Mostly Tajik nationalists advocate for this. I think Khorasan was only Western Afghanistan though, not Eastern/Pashtun areas.
Sindhistan isnt a bad name for Pakistan though.
