Paragon City denied graveyard for comedian Amanullah Khan

What's a marasii?
Hi. I'll try and explain in a little more detail.
The word is "miraasi".
From the word "miraas", meaning heritage.
Back in the day, up to partition and in some cases beyond, (my own family retained a miraasi until the early sixties) every family was attached to a miraasi. The miraasi was the person who held in his memory the genealogy, ( family tree) of the family concerned. Before a marriage proposal between two families was finalised and accepted, the miraasi of both families would sit together and recite the family tree of both of the prospective bride and groom, so that each family could evaluate the pedigree of each others family.
That was their original purpose and that is where they take their name of miraasi.
They were also traditionally the caste that were the musicians and the comedians, entertainers if you will. They are considered low caste, music and comedy considered unbecoming of the supposedly higher castes.
In case you are wondering, Islam doesn't have a caste heirarchy, it is just a part of the Hindu legacy supposedly higher caste Muslims of the sub continent are not prepared to let go because it affects their social status and self image.
I hope this helps.

Hi,

You guys still don't get it---. I wonder if you know anything about your religion at all---.

If they were refused a certain place in the graveyard because it was for someone else's grave to be---your cannot bury your loved one in that place by using influence---this place become HARAM---.

The etiquette is to ask seek permission if a certain location / place is available for burial---.

But when many of you say your prayers in mosques built on HARAM land forcefully occupied land---why would you care---.

Salaam

Some posts here are very strange.

People aren't turned away from graveyards in Pakistan because they are 'low caste' Muslim.

They may be turned away if they aren't able to pay for land there or if the property is private.

Besides Ammanullah was a famous tv personality - his body certainly wasn't going to turned away because he was marasi or something.

If a Minister of the state comes to help you with your illegal take over of a plot on t.v, you cannot claim to be oppressed.

With regards to Mirasi and Mullahs, I've met more than one alim from from such families. I think one of the most learned Sheikh ul Hadith (whose books I saw in Saudi Arabia as well) is in my city.

Lastly, when khalifa Omar bin Abdulaziz was near death, he rented a small plot of land for two years and paid the amount in advance. He asked for his grave to leveled after that time.

Ignorance mate.
People jump in to believe a person with a phone and camera and possessing the ability to upload it on Youtube, without even investigating if its true or not.

I think the worst disease which has infected the society through advent of platforms like facebook/twitter/whatsapp etc is forwarding of material to others without giving a darn in finding the truth behind it.

This one too is a typical case where someone (most likely the relatives of Amanullah) made this clip to prove that the society is denying his burial due to his profession, typical victim portrayal, shared with his friends and then it became a smear campaign against the housing society/the society in general/ the mullahs what not..

Every person forwarding the junk felt it their national responsibility to criticize someone, the facts were totally different and they were that the relatives of the deceased were trying to claim some sort of privilege over others by having more space for their deceased. Instead of forwarding this junk I rather opted to ask my friends living in the society to find out the truth.

Of course there are people with "holier than thou" attitude but these are normally people who have spend their lives doing all sorts of nasty stuff (mostly sarkari baboos) after retirement a govt sponsored hajj or so later they do pray 5 times a day in mosques and consider them above others so that they could pass judgement on others.

what does it have to do with Mullah. But at least they are successful in making you hate Mullahs now next are the prophets. Allah gave us all ability to talk but that doesn't mean you have to used the ability whether its warranted or not.

Ay bhai, mullahs has nothing to do with it.. It's a social issue, and it's roots dates back to cast system in pre partition era.
But are we not Muslims?
The caste heirarchy is not compatible with Islam.
Why is it that the people of Pakistan identify first and foremost as Muslims yet carry on the Hindu cultural practices that suit them, yet again criticise each other for minor infractions and differences between different sects and groups of Muslims?
As usual self interest triumphs over having to give up dominance and status.

Humans are cruel. Muslims non Muslims, doesn't matter.

@jamahir the deceased comedian's jokes usually revolved around the injustices rendered by the Elite. Same syllabus for all kids was his idea and he vehemently projected it in many of his banters. All in all his stand up and theatrical comedy events were attended by families. South Asia just lost a legend, Rip Amanullah khan

@The Eagle the title is misleading plz fix it
