I really got surprised when one person here was proud of a person that looted his place. Weird.

Consider it this way

Don't know why Hindus lost most of the wars against Muslims.. This is not about Muslim Vs Muslim conquests... yeah we had many disagreements.. but wars against Hindus completely subjugated them.. at one point most of the presently known India became a ping pong ball between different Muslim rulers.

And we shouldn't forget the fact that Muslims were less than even 5% 1000 years back in present day India (still they are less than 20%.. Even then Hindus couldn't put up a decent fight against Muslims.

I love my history very much.. I know, now an Indian hindu will say that my ancestors lost the wars against Muslim invaders from the west... this is their usual argument to divert the conversation. First, I need to tell them I am not a descendant of Indian ancestors.. secondly, even if most of the Muslims living in India are descendants of Indian hindus or buddhists, according to our religion, we don't associate with them at all.. Converting to Islam gives a whole new meaning to life as we know it. A true Muslim (or the one who belongs to any other Abrahamic faiths) is not afraid of death, which gives him enough courage to be an aggressor even when he is defending his land..

But what I don't understand, this courage is not enough to subjugate 95% of the population. So definitely something is either missing in Hindus, or it is added to people when they convert to Islam.. and that's the power of FAITH.

in india those times only rajputs fought , they never fought unitedly , individual kings fought invaders . so 95 percent non fighting population used to sit idle in there homes during those wars .

Now those are really inflated numbers. Anyway, Marathas lost and Abdali too suffered huge losses. Abdali had numerical superiority and support from other Muslim kingdoms as well. Marathas did well even though they were fighting alone. I agree, tactics employed were poor. Marathas had a large number of pilgrims in their camp who were thinking of going to Kashi after the war. Marathas were also overconfident after successive wins against many Nizam, Rajput and Muslim kingdoms.

I look at things objectively and I find mistakes, I admit them. Most of members here are just fanatics though and I feel there is no point arguing with them.

But it still doesn't answer why Abdali is respected so much in Pakistan as he is from Afghanistan right? Or is he respected just because he killed 'evil Hindus' in Panipat and sacked Mathura (city mostly of Hindus) and slaughtered unarmed civilians over there as well? They truly are. I had a chat with an influential Indian Muslim. He now lives in The Netherlands, is married to a Dutch woman and runs his own NGO. He attended the Rohyinga conference recently at our uni.

If traditionally marathas survived on fast cavalry then taking and fighting behind 200 static canon was stupid

It was the maratha own actions, taxes and looting that isolated them from others, all of North India probably felt at least the Afghans would leave but we would be stuck with these marauding marathas, so they either backed Abdali or stayed put

Marathas even insulted one of their few rajput kings who supported them and he subsequently packed up and went home

The marathas didnt have enough patrols so whilst Abdali crossed the overflowing Yamuna and flanked the marathas cutting off their supply lines, they didn't even realise

They then had ego and retardation problems, even when the battle started that HARAMI ibrahim Gardi was having success on the afghan flank due to his superior gardi musketeers, the maratha cavalry charged forward putting themselves in the middle of the firing line

They put a idiot like Bhau in charge


AND WORSE
ALMOST CRIMINALLY INEPT from the marathas they came with TWO HUNDRED THOUSAND women and children, wives and daughters, dancing girls and cooks etc

So even if they could escape the afghans to fight another day, they couldn't leave their wives and children to be raped and enslaved

Thus concludes incredibly POOR maratha episode where they got tens of thousands of maratha men killed and hundreds of thousands of maratha women and children became slaves and concubines or wives of Afghan and Muslim armies

Malharro Holkar was also insisting that Marathas should employ 'Ganimi Kava' (Guerilla warfar) that Shivaji Maharaj succesfully employed against Mughals but Sadashivrao didn't listen. Raghunathrao was a more seasoned campaigner should have led. But these are ifs and buts and the final result is that Marathas lost the war.

But you didn't answer why you have a missile named after a man who raided and looted your present day Pakistan?

Sure, every person has positive and negatives in a medieval world full of war and destruction who is really blameless

But these conquerors gave us the space time and ability to establish our faith and that is priceless

They also have a psychological hold on the Hindu mind, they might violate the rights of Indian Muslims but they can never stop Babur conquering them

As India and Hindus are our enemies what better than to name our most destructive missiles after men who caused the most destruction to Hindus and who haunt their minds
