No you want our SC to declare him guilty since american society conscious at large thinks fit to do it...I think we have heard this type of logic before somewhere else ...irrelevant of actual facts
Is it true that the accused had no hand in pearls murder other than the abduction and prosecution couldn't prove murder charges in the court ?

Anyways we need to understand that a white christian was murdered in cold blood and the 18 years spent by abductors in jail are not enough for our Oxford breed to face the evangelicals
Actually I am more interested in this oxford breed as u called them ...they have some special syndrome ....we need to hang a guy whether it is proven or not in court of law just to hand them argument to face white extremist...literally mental slavery at its best

.
Which needs to stop but wont till we have apologists.
US recently pardon all those accused of murdering iraqis. Where was the moral high ground than?

That is the problem with America and its apologists. They make demands and want to be judge, jury and executioner. Pakistan should allow the courts to operate freely. We can count the apologists on one hand on our side. They are irrelivant. They make noise and get angry. Leave them. What matters is the majority who is adversely affected by US policies in Pakistan.

Whenever a Pakistani is found guilty despite Pak protests the Western nations always point to rule of law blah blah. It is no different here. The courts are giving their ruling. The Americans cannot and shouldn't disturb court rulings as per own wishes.

Qureshi, US secretary discuss Daniel Pearl case
APP

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi talked by telephone to newly appointed US Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken on Friday and discussed with him bilateral ties, Afghan peace process and the Daniel Pearl murder case, official sources said.

Mr Qureshi congratulated Mr Blinken on assuming the office of US Secretary of State and underscored Pakistan’s commitment to forging a comprehensive partnership with the United States based on convergence of interests on a whole range of issues.

Mr Blinken was sworn in as the 71st US Secretary of State on Jan 26.

Highlighting what he termed “the transformation in Pakistan”, the foreign minister stressed that the government of Prime Minister Imran Khan had “a new vision that placed a premium on forging an economic partnership, building a peaceful neighbourhood and enhancing regional connectivity”, said the sources.

Foreign Minister Qureshi told Secretary Blinken that peace in Afghanistan, through a negotiated political settlement, was one of the “fundamental convergences” that existed between the two countries.

It was essential to have a reduction in violence that could lead to a ceasefire in Afghanistan and to work towards securing an inclusive political solution in the war-torn country, the sources quoted Mr Qureshi as telling Mr Blinken.

Pakistan facilitated the Afghan peace process and remained committed to working with the United States as a partner for peace, he added.

Mr Qureshi also highlighted Pakistan’s “resolute measures” as well as its immense sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.

Secretary Blinken recalled that Pakistan and the US had a long history of cooperation and had a range of areas to engage in. He acknowledged the sacrifices made by the people of Pakistan in the fight against terrorism.

In the context of recent developments in the Daniel Pearl murder case, the foreign minister underscored that it was in the interest of both countries that justice was served through legal means. He highlighted the steps being taken by the authorities in this regard.

Foreign Minister Qureshi and Secretary Blinken agreed to remain engaged and work towards advancing the bilateral agenda and promoting common interests in the region and beyond, according to the sources.

Notice how quick the US deep state pawn picked up the phone to make a call. It didn't take long at all. Suddenly he remembered Afghanistan and the long dubious relationship in the process. I love the response by FM as he pointed towards the new vision. Anyone with a few brain cells should be able to understand that there will be no interference from the government in court ruling.

The world has changed for the Americans. The Americans are in no position to make any forceful demands. Repair your own country and stop interfering. The US has lost moral standing and credibility. It is a divided country that exports war and bloodshed.

Where there is evidence, courts will convict. Dr Afridi was caught spying for USA, he is in jail. There is no evidence against this guy for the murder of an Israeli agent so he is rightly freed.

USA wants us to free a spy working for USA on one hand and yet convict an innocent (proven in the highest court) on another.

SC review petition Daniel Pearl

ISLAMABAD: The federal government on Saturday decided to become a party in the abduction and murder case of US journalist Daniel Pearl, ARY News reported.

A spokesman at the attorney general’s office, while confirming the report, said that the federal government will file an application in the Supreme Court (SC) to become a party in the Daniel Pearl murder case.

He maintained that the government will plead with the apex court to form a larger bench for hearing of the review petition filed by the Sindh government in the case.

Earlier on January 29, a day after the Supreme Court had acquitted Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh, the principal accused in the murder case of American journalist Daniel Pearl, the Sindh government moved a petition seeking review of its decision.

The provincial government through its prosecutor general had moved the petition in the apex court, pleading with it to review its decision of acquitting the main accused.

Pakistan’s Supreme Court upholds acquittal of British-born Ahmed Omar Sheikh, convicted of masterminding the Wall Street Journal reporter’s killing.

A panel of three judges of Pakistan’s Supreme Court has ordered the release of Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh, who was convicted of killing US journalist Daniel Pearl, a government lawyer said.

“By a majority of two to one, they have acquitted all the accused persons and ordered their release,” provincial attorney general, Salman Talibuddin, told Reuters news agency in a text message on Thursday.

Sheikh, a 47-year-old British-Pakistani, was the main suspect in the 2002 kidnapping and murder of Pearl, a Wall Street Journal reporter.

The court also dismissed an appeal of Sheikh’s acquittal by Pearl’s family.

“Today’s decision is a complete travesty of justice and the release of these killers puts in danger journalists everywhere and the people of Pakistan,” the Pearl family said in a statement released by their lawyer.

Sheikh has been on death row since his conviction in Pearl’s killing. His lawyer said Sheikh “should not have spent one day in jail”.

Lawyer Mehmood A Sheikh said the court ordered three other Pakistanis, who had been sentenced to life in prison for their part in Pearl’s kidnapping and murder, also freed.

Pakistan’s attorney general said in a statement that authorities in Sindh province would file a petition “at the earliest” asking the Supreme Court to review its decision.

The ruling follows an international outcry last year after a lower court acquitted Sheikh of murder and reduced his conviction to a lesser charge of kidnapping, overturning his death sentence and ordering his release after almost 20 years in prison.

Later on Thursday, the US expressed outrage over the move, with White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki calling it called the decision “an affront to terror victims everywhere”.

Shiraz Paracha, political analyst and current affairs commentator, told Al Jazeera from Peshawar that the country’s general public does not have a keen interest in the story, but “this case is going to be a big challenge for the state of Pakistan”.

“We have a new administration in the United States and in the very beginning Pakistan has this crisis,” he said. “The US is very sensitive about this case and Daniel Pearl’s family and the US government both are keen to have this man convicted.”

The abduction

Pearl was the South Asia bureau chief for The Wall Street Journal when he was abducted in Karachi in January 2002 while researching a story about armed fighters in the country.

Nearly a month later, after a string of ransom demands were made, a graphic video showing his decapitation was delivered to the US consulate in Karachi.

Lawyers for Pearl’s family have argued that Sheikh played a crucial role in organising the abduction and detention of the journalist, before ordering his captors to kill him.

Defence lawyers, however, say he has been made a scapegoat for the murder and was sentenced on insufficient evidence.
Sheikh and the three other men convicted of the kidnapping have been held under emergency orders by the Sindh provincial government, which has argued that they are a danger to the public.

There was no word on when they will be released following Thursday’s decision.

Washington previously said it would demand Sheikh be extradited to the US to be tried there. There was no immediate reaction from the US embassy to the court order upholding the appeal.
