Pakistan's strategic importance to Japanese Foreign Policy: 1947 to the present

This globe doesnt work when it comes to trade.. indian is buying and developing good relations with US doesnt mean now india is anti Russia.

Developing economic relations is good for every nation but saying Pakistan is a major force for stability in center and south asia is more than economic partnership.

Japan is new player in the area and they should choose their word carefully.

Everyone know TTP was created by ISI and blaming India won;t change the fact but you guys have tendency to blame India for everything.

So far we do support Baluchistan people through Iran but TTP is a no go.

You are delusional man "Madarssa" education is famous in pakistan and brain child of saudi and it has nothing to do with India and when i said help to Baluchistan i said morale support.

To answer your question why India is not getting more terror attack ,well because your ISI is busy in killing their creation so when they are finish sure they will start the game again.

you guys are snake and you bite whoever close to you and USA and China realizing it now.

Long term Russia and USA are not on a collision course. Ukraine is a short term issue.
China is potentially different.

I seriously did not know many of the facts the article mentioned above. Pakistan and Japan did indeed have close ties at the very birth of the nation, and during Japan's recovery.

I love Japan and pray that our ties grow stronger.

Thank you @Nihonjin1051 san for the article.

Hey bro, I, too, hope for our ties to grow deeper. In my opinion, the countries that straddle that IOR are strategically important and I hope Japan can develop greater relations between Japan and: 1) Pakistan, 2) Iran, 3) Afghanistan. These three countries are vital for us.

I did not mention India here because relations between India and Japan is already growing, and just this past year Japan has already pledged $35 Billion to invest in India, and our goal to help India through various other parameters such as infrastructure, sewage systems, railway projects, port projects and energy projects.

Naturally, I would like to see the same being applied to Pakistan, Iran, and Afghanistan. And I believe that this will be seen in the coming years. JETRO [Japan External Trade Organization] recently determined that Pakistan, as a country, has the second-highest potential for investments in the world. Pakistan is also a declared N-11 [Next Eleven, first coined by Goldman Sachs in 2005] economy with investment-friendly policies.

No doubt Japanese Business Federation (Keidenren) will tap into the robust Pakistan Potential.

Namaste @Sam. Bhai !

The Relations between Pakistan and Japan is firm as bedrock. We have both weathered storms in our respective nations from 1948 to the present. Japan and Pakistan respects each others internal security, internal issues, and the right of each other to handle it independently and without interference from outside forces, unless requested upon. From cultural, economic, educational, to even humanitarian parameters --- we have both worked with each other. Irrespective of the situation between India and Pakistan , Afghanistan and Pakistan , we have not interfered with Pakistan , rather, we have always supported them to handle their internal security.

Japanese Foreign Policy is focused on Non-Interventionism. This is the reason why we are able to get a long with a host of nations. Even regarding China, we have a Non-Interventionist policy regarding their internal affairs.

There's a good academic article that highlights this and I would recommend it to you:

And I hope this remains indefinitely. :)

TTP wasn't created by ISI but merely supported by the ISI. And if we want to get into details, countries like India supported members of the Northern Alliance who engaged in drug trafficking, pederasty, and countless human rights violations. The 1990s was a dirty era for Pakistan, but bringing up the past won't cement your point because India hasn't been innocent either in the past.

Japan can and it already has good relations with all three states bro. For one it will help meet Japan's future energy needs and we desperately need expertise in area such as Nuclear power and so forth. I'm heartened to read what you wrote about JETRO, and that would make sense, after all Pakistan is a country of 200 million people, which sits in one of the most geo-strategic important regions in the world.

But I have to say again that I was taken back by Japan signing its first trade agreement with Pakistan, Pakistan waving war reparations, Pakistan was the first Asian state to visit Japan after the war, the Japanese returned the honour and so forth.

It's just sad that many Pakistanis don't know this and I'm also certain that very few if any Japanese have heard of such close ties.

I hope they come back. I would love to see Japanese expertise at work in Pakistan. I also intend to visit Japan as soon as I can.

Some more stuff bro:

Ancient relations between the Gandhara region and Japan existed around 1300 years ago. The progressive branch of Buddhism, Mahayana Buddism (in Japanese Daijo Bukyo), embraced by Japanese, was flourished in Taxila. Daijo Bukyo gave rise to magnificent art, architecture,
sculpture, and paining in Japan. Culturally, Japan seems to be an extension of ancient Gandhara civilization.

Pakistan was among the first few countries that had ratified the Japanese peace treaty even before the United States.

Pakistan established diplomatic and trade contacts with Japan since 1948

In order to meet the acute shortage of food in Japan caused after the war, Pakistan shipped 60,000 tons of rice through Nichimen vessels to Japan in 1952 and 1953 carrying the signboard ‘Donated Rice to the Emperor of Japan by the Government of Pakistan’. Such was the national sentiment between the two sides in the 1950s.

General Ayub during his visit in the 1960 was received by the emperor Hirohito himself.

His excellency remarked;

“Bonded not only by age of old relationship of culture and civilization but also by the modern ties of trade and cooperation, both Japan and Pakistan have first developed a unique identify of thought and we are emphatic in our belief that in between themselves both the governments and the people of these two countries are by virtue of their deep-rooted love for peace capable of exercising an irresistible influence on world opinion”

Japan aided Pakistan greatly through its Japanese Official Development Assistance program.

Sadly things declined with time and differences regarding China, Nuclear weapons and so on. Let's hope for a rekindling, which has begun again.

@Nihonjin1051 I edited my previous post and added more details."Fun facts" if you like.

拝啓 Nihonjin1051,

First two points which i highlighted as red are flawed. Pakistan doesn't give a damn about japnese internal security their policy is not multiverse but polarized towards fixated points which is India.

I am not trying to say what Japanese foreign policy should be but all i am saying is "if you choose to enter in some political satire in Pakistan than do think about India".

If your relationship go beyond economic partnership than forget doing business with India.

You are not in a position, you need them not the other way around.

Really was it needed?
They are sovereign country. They have every right to do whatever fits in their interests.
USA and China is still giving arms and aid to Pakistan. So by your logic should we stop doing business with them??

You see all the sourness in USA-India relation was Pakistan and nothing else as they needed them against USSR. I have no opinion about anything but i say what i see and i am realist rather than idealist.

As now USA-Pakistan relation is sour on other side USA-India relation is going good , Don't you see any pattern here?

Firstly Japan has no such issue with internal security. Secondly why wouldn't Pakistan give a damn? As for forgetting doing business with India if they get involved with Pakistan, I think that would be flawed to the core and would make India look terrible on the international arena. I don't think India will do such a thing.
