Pakistan's Mornoic Police - what are they upto ?

The way I see it, there are 2 types of police in Pakistan....

1) The trained and educated police, true law enforcement officers.
2) Thana police, those in charge of small precincts, poorly trained and uneducated barbarians.

We should train and educate our policemen.

The police dept is ravaged by corruption but we have to understand that we ourselves are responsible for this situation. When a youth is caught riding a bike without a license, the first thing he reaches for is a rs.1000 note. If one of our acquaintances gets arrested we ring up every known relative to try and get them out and take vendetta action against the policemen involved. Police men are attacked and brutally beaten when managing riots or demonstrations. Even though they are losing men and are sacrificing their lives in the fight to keep our citizens safe from terrorists, no one is prepared to honour their sacrifices. In such a situation, what else do you think they should become other than corrupt, violent and lazy ?

P.S. As for the sialkot incident, I was shocked at how the police was standing spectator and sincerely hope that they are tried for criminal negligence of duty. I think that the reason for their inability to act is the fact that the abusing party must be some infamous local goons and they might fear a similar fate for them and their family. But whatever the circumstances, it was shameful that they stood witness.

Our police is nothing different than Indian police.

What you know about Indian Police ? We have 25+ states, except UP and Bihar Police is doing fine job.

Gora Police is corrupt too, but they dont do halla-sheri (promote) injustice in Bazaars. Indian Punjab Police is cruel also, but 99.99% no washing your dirty linen in public!

I saw video, very disturbing.

Police is aayina (mirror) of our samaaj. Government bodies should have grievances and complaints cell.

I think before finding out the solutions we should find out the causes for the same.

1. It seems that the salaries paid to the Police people are less, keeping in view the today's cost of living.

2. Common People themselves are responsible for this. We tend to offer bribe to the police people to get rid of the legal hassles.

3. Another reason associated with the corruption is the job security associated with it.

4. One of the major reasons is that the police people are dummies in the hands of politicians. Politicians control the postings and promotions of police officers according to their likes and dislikes.

If you stand and watch on the road, you can find a normal constable is making 1000 Rupees a day minimum from the fruit, vegetable vendors, and hawkers.

I suggest to replace all the police force with a new police system and conduct new recruiting process. It will be easy to clean the corrupted police from the system.

The police are doing a decent enough job with in the resources available and the environment they are in.

Can you wonder what would be the status of all the cities and villages without the policemen ?

Criticize the policemen for their ineptness and corruption, but also acknowledge that we cannot live without those policemen aswell.

atleast in Punjab and Sindh the villages would have schools vacated for education which are otherwise occupied by Buffaloes, cows and goats of feudal lords with blessing of local police

After watching the sialkoti incident i think the whole police force of Pakistan should be disbanded.We should start new force and hire people with good education.We only had few good officers in Police like Safwat Ghayyur.
