Pakistan's lost decade of the 1990s

A recent bumper sticker I saw reads as follows:

"Be nice to America. Or we'll bring democracy to your country!"

After seeing failure of democracy in delivering basic services, security and human development in India, Pakistan, Iraq and Afghanistan, there is a growing suspicion among the poor that America's push to get democracy installed in third world countries ( knowing full well that it will fail) is a ploy to keep them in chaos and from making any kind of progress.

I do not blame Democracy for the failures of India. Democracy did not fail India, because India have only met the necessary conditions for Democracy not the "sufficient" conditions.

Also Democracy is like tree, it need nourishment to grow from a seed and can take years to mature. India is a democracy, an Young and immature democracy.
