Pakistani scientist discovers disease caused by interfamily marriage.

That's I didn't say it is haram or forbidden but only discouraged...not even condemned. And for that you don't need strong explicit references as required when declaring halal or haram. If you look at the ethos of Islam and the concept of pan-Islamism which encourages stronger bonds between the Muslims of different backgrounds and ethnicities etc, you will realise the marriage outside the family are encouraged. I can provide you references too since I worked on it some time ago... but right now I have to go with my family...

Punjabi I guess

Can you translate for me?

Now and then it's fine but intergenerational family marriage causes big problems. Let's leave the science aside but when these marriages break down entire families stop talking to each other, and even worse start brawling until someone dies.

.
medically speaking, they will only cause problems if there is continued inter marriages in one region with no new gene mix rather than cousin based marriage

occasional cousin based marriage will not cause any significant issue if there is continuous mix of foreign gene poll

Cousin marriage is one of the signs of our society's hypocrisy. All these supporters of such marriages would like to portray as if there are some ulterior motives to this practice. In reality, the motive is to keep the wealth, especially land holdings, within the family.

.
Liberals are the ones discouraging this act. Is it the liberals that sh*t themselves when they see a Muslim marrying a Jew or Christian ? The entire concept of being a liberal is being open-minded and resistant to norms. Are you sure you even know what a liberal is ?

It seems you missed the 'desi' before the secular and liberal!

Yep a great of it has to do with wealth and power. I remember a time here in the UK that if you went to ask for a girl's hand in marriage you would get sworn at by her father and he'll tell you that his brother or sister wants the girl for their son. In the end most of the girls never got married as the families bickered among themselves, and the girls are now 35 onwards and posting adds on matrimonial websites about their lifestyle, hobbies, and what they want in a partner. They never mention their families.....It doesn't take a genius to work out why.

Firstly i dont want a religious discussion here but since u over-zealously jumped in and went on to plaster over much of the thread your self-made inference, "islam discourages cousin marriages" i felt the need to point it out.
No, all narrations regarding discouraging cousin marriages are extremely weak and one of them is just a fiqhi opinion.
Also hazrat umars incident can not be taken as an argument to state islam discourages cousin unions.
In simple words islam neither encourages it nor discourages, its entirely left to an individual what he chooses for himself.
Lastly, all your "islam encourages marrying outside" are based on your personal inferences. Lets" "assume" these inferences are correct even then there is not a single strong narration that discourages them. So its complete neutrality from islams front unless someone twists islam to his liking.

and for this part of your post:
"That's I didn't say it is haram or forbidden but only discouraged...not even condemned. And for that you don't need strong explicit references as required when declaring halal or haram"
Lmao @ don't need explicit references. so when liberal or non practicing muslims use similar argument "as nothing explicitly forbids this or that" to justify something they engage in, you guys lose your minds.
Just like based on implicit references people declare music as haram.

Yes i have seen one such case in a family but they were intermarrying for generations and generations and even then it was one case out of 100s and 100s of marriages.

Siwaey waderas kay landholdings ya enormous wealth hai kis ki? Such reasons would be prevalent amongst feudal backgrounds or small farmers in rural areas. But majority in urban and semi urban areas do it due to excessive dowry demands from grooms families and lack of good marriage propsects.

This has been mentioned several times on documentaries in the UK about continuos cousin marriages mainly from amoungst the Pak diaspora. The mainly Pak Mirpuri & some Pak Punjabi communities continue to marry close relatives. medical research was carried out in UK cities of Bradford and Birmingham with large numbers of Pak community, it showed there were many genetic disorders within two cities from amoungst the large Pak communities.

Uhh you made a fool out of yourself in the very first line lad. If you had bothered reading the doctor is researching 200 other families. The specific disease that was discovered in this case is due to cousin marriage because the protein synthesized in these people is due to a recessive genotype. Now you'd be right to say that of course genetic diseases aren't only due to cousin marriage as there's could be lots of other factors which lead to recessive genotypes but inbreeding is one of the main reasons because it decreases the size of your offsprings gene pool significantly.

I never answer the thread unless I read it completely and understand whats being said; the quote below taken from your original post says she is researching 200 families doesnt anywhere says if all the people she researching suffer from same condition

Dr. Siddiqi, who is currently researching on 200 other families

When this kind of research comes out remember one thing someone paid for it, these guys didn't decide to do this on their own, question should be asked here who paid for this and why?

Oh so I get what you're saying. You're saying that the research has some agenda attached to it ? Maybe you can make it clear because an inferior mind like mine can't really make it clear how stopping cousins from bedding each other (the disadvantages of cousin marriage has been researched for decades BTW) could be someone's agenda or why an "investor" would be interested in it.

So what happens when people from this family start marrying outsiders?

This crazy gene enters the general population, and spreads!

Better stick to themselves.

Marrying outside of family does not create better genes.. it just means the bad recessive gene may not be expressed in some individuals inheriting it but carried to future generations and there's a chance it may be expressed further down the line.

Is it better for this family? Yes. Good for society at large? Absolutely not.
Thats a wrong impression. Today world is not relied on mendelian genetics, Complex interaction of genes and environment has recently observed in last few years as epigenetics. Environment influence like healthy lifestyle can affect generations and interfamily or consiguneous marriages complicate the whole situation and new set of genetic problems emerges.
