İş Bankası isn't Turkey's current central bank but in the nineteen-twenties it was the only national bank of the Turkish Republic which was founded by Atatürk and partially funded by our Pakistani friends.

Following the culmination of World War I in 1918 and the subsequent dissolution of the Ottoman Empire in 1922, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk assumed power as the first president of Turkey. Atatürk was quick to realize that the government needed a national bank to rebuild Turkey's economy following the debacle of the war. Türkiye İş Bankası, the first truly national bank in the Turkish Republic was founded on 26 August 1924 at the First Economy Congress in İzmir. [...]

The bank was established with donations of cash and gold bullion from Muslim supporters in the future Pakistan[4] sent via the Imperial Bank of India to support the Turkish War of Independence.

Back then, this institution financed many of Atatürk's projects and helped him to modernize the economy and society. After the devastating floods in 2010, Isbank made a donation to Pakistan, remembering the help they once had received from the beloved Pakistani people.

Always remember, never forget.
