There is no feeling quite like having a large bird of prey perching on your arm. The calm confident pressure....but always with the underlying tension knowing what this creature is capable of...and that it chooses to respect you!
I worked at Singapore Zoo during my teenage summers....and for a treat at the end (there was lots of cages to be mucked out on top of preparing food for animals etc)...my supervisor always let me choose which raptor to handle at the public demonstration. Verreaux eagle was one of my favourites....that was about as big as I was allowed to go....along with an absolutely beautiful Himalayan Golden eagle. Harpy eagle and condors could only be handled by the professional trained handlers.
No other living creature for me carries the same regal persona as that of an eagle!
