There is no feeling quite like having a large bird of prey perching on your arm. The calm confident pressure....but always with the underlying tension knowing what this creature is capable of...and that it chooses to respect you!

I worked at Singapore Zoo during my teenage summers....and for a treat at the end (there was lots of cages to be mucked out on top of preparing food for animals etc)...my supervisor always let me choose which raptor to handle at the public demonstration. Verreaux eagle was one of my favourites....that was about as big as I was allowed to go....along with an absolutely beautiful Himalayan Golden eagle. Harpy eagle and condors could only be handled by the professional trained handlers.

No other living creature for me carries the same regal persona as that of an eagle!

But yeah falcons are pretty nifty too. Kites as well....handled a couple Brahminy kites at the zoo.

Well we have kites where we live and they are very aggresive when they are nesting eagle is like a hugeass kite isnt it more aggresive?
I mean i have seen them in zoo,s and tv but you dont get the idea about their behaviour to humans from that

You wouldn't like em so much if you know the quantities of food they go through lol (and having to prep all of that hehe). I learnt the anatomy of buffalo and cattle pretty well, lets put it that way heh.

My brother is also into it.. Has a few Falcons .. I think I posted a few pics from one such trip and guys were makin jokes about the "aviator" gogles worn by the bird lol.
