Pakistani man jailed for chanting 'Allahu Akbar'on Emirates flight

The only connection these words for most italians / europeans have is in connection with terror, barbarism and murder.

the majority is irrelevant. Blame yourself for have allowed it to go that way.
Why i should blame myself? would you take blame for any Italian who commit the act of rape or murder?

Majority is irrelvant...kudos to your pea-brain

Sarwar’s defence lawyer Balbir Singh said the passenger had acted erratically because he had not taken his medication and was upset after attending his mother’s funeral in Pakistan.

the majority of germans in WW II was peaceful. Same counts for north koreans any any other group.

the majority is irrelevant. What matters are the radicals.

We have almost no muslims in italy. I connect those words with terror and murder and if someone shouts them its a natural reaction to get alerted. They are connected only with negative feelings for me.

That you cant grasp this and you chose to use insults against me shows that you dont understand anything.

I am saying that its your ignorance if you connect these words only with terror or suicide when vast majority of Muslims chant these words daily in prayers and dont go for blowing themselves up..Our Muslim Pakistan soldier who are fighting against terrorists chant these same words so stop having this negative mindset who just want to look at glass as half empty rather than half full as it will just portray you dumb

A Pakistani man who screamed ‘Allahu Akbar’ during turbulence on a Birmingham-bound flight earlier this year has been jailed, the Mirrorreported.

Shehraz Sarwar, who was arrested for using threatening words and behaviour on the plane, threw food and towels around causing uproar in the aircraft as people feared a terrorist attack.

The 38-year-old has now been jailed for ten weeks at Birmingham Crown Court.

Earlier during takeoff, the 38-year-old had refused to fasten his seat belt but had later settled down and slept for hours. However, as the pilot lined the plane up to land, he became aggressive. There was also severe turbulence on the plane at the time.

Prosecuting Sarwar in Birmingham Crown Court, Patrick Sullivan QC told the Birmingham Mail, “The behaviour before these words was obnoxious. He fell asleep for about three quarters of the flight and when he woke up he threw a towel back at a member of staff who had offered him one. He also threw a scone behind him although it did not land on anyone.”

“He was also hitting his head with his hand. People were distressed and upset by his behavior,” Sullivan added. He said, “There was terrible turbulence during the flight and some passengers were very frightened.

Sarwar, a resident of Birmingham, pleaded guilty to the charges. His lawyer, Balbir Singh, said he had been affected by the death of his grandmother and hadn’t taken his medication.

“The heavy turbulence also provoked him,” his lawyer said.

One passenger said they were happy to have survived the landing but thought Sarwar was going to set off a bomb aboard the flight. Judge Francis Laird QC told Sarwar, “Set in the context of the current political situation , chanting Allahu Akbar over and over again while on a plane had a frightening effect on some of the passengers and reduced some to tears. You misbehaved and you were arrogant onboard.”

“Incidents such as these on planes are taken very seriously by the courts and due to the circumstances I have no alternative but to send you to prison for 10 weeks.”

Sarwar was also told he would be placed on licence with a 12 month supervision order when he was released.

Highlighted all the aspects to look at it in details. The behavior of this person was very bad,, just because he also said Allhahu Akhbar does not mean his behavior can be overlooked?

As an aside, I have been flying for two decades now, and for the life of me have still not figured out which are the best chaddis to wear for long haul flights.
I always go commando on long journeys :woot:

the only connection i have with those words is terrorism and evil. Excuse me but thats how it is.

No that perception is wrong, Allah Ho Akbar or Allah O Akbar is a Islamic prayer and we recite whenever we do some good thing for Islam or nation, Sadly terrorist used this as a last word for suicide bombing specially media highlighted it very much but it is wrong to associate Islamic prayers with terrorism.

never anyone did something good for europe when those words were said. sorry but try to see from our side.

Let me share a true story of Allahu akbar....while traveling in Pakistan a taxi driver cursing the police for giving hard time. Same taxi driver in next breath share the story, that today in the morning. He waiting for fare, few cops ask a old man to move from the front of closed shop . Old man refused to move , he was covering the body with big sheet of cloth ( chaddar)..when police forced him, he stand up, while stand up he shout Allahu akbar (typical way)............within second all cops start running in opposite direction and scared......guess what they thought...........

A very simple and good tip for people when outside their respective countries. Keep your politics and religious preferences to your damn self.

Also in public and crowded areas if you cant speak Italian while in Italy or any other language for that matter in its country, speak English. Not that your freedom is being taken away but its polite and puts surrounding people at ease.

I don't know why people put their egos in way of avoiding trouble.

Jail this scum for life or bar him from flying until his mental problems are resolved or have someone close to him keep him on a leash.

Blindfolded can't see any thing good especially when they use hatred blindfold
sorry I just comes to know I can't post links but google it and enlighten yourself how Muslim contribute in western countries.

No one is denying that.

Problem is that the innocent muslims are being as terrorised by these terrorists as non-muslims.

That fear these "few" terrorist inspire in muslims themselves must be considered.

In that context, a muslim is as helpless against them as others.

Point though is, there is only one section of people slitting people's throats with a knife in the name of religion.
Unless the root cause is addressed by having a forth right discourse, it's going to devour whole nations.

Kindly explain you point of view further please.

Simple reaoning really.
Majority of muslims are as threatened by these religious nuts as non-muslims.
If a muslim were to take a contrary point to their way of thinking, these terrorists would gladly slit that person's throat.

Hindus are allowed to believe in whatever they want to believe in. In that sense the definition of God is not a finality, it is a discovery.

My question was, does Islam agree with other religions if the Supreme God of Isalm is same as the God or Gods of other religions?

To give an analogy, do we have situation like a single NWO world with a single currency and rule of law or have several countries with their own currencies and rules of law like we have today.
I know what you had asked.

My interest was generated by the talk with a hindu friend in real life who said that he believed in one supreme being. muslims called him Allah, hindus called him Bhagwan.
My personal understanding is that the God, which any religion may call or relate to, as only one supreme being above all, is same God which muslims call Allah.

However, you gave something new now about discovery.
