Show me census, not estimates . . Pakistan is diverse and democratic country , their is nothing wrong in criticizing the elements behind the sacrificing events to gain mystic powers.
Blame the individual, not the things you don't know jack shit about. This guy might be a mental patient, as no sane person would ever kill all his children. Sufism is not about witchcraft and necrophilia. These fraudulent people and witches aren't "sufis" as your Zakir Naiks have you believe. And yes, they don't sacrifice children in front of altars in Data Darbar, Lahore.
And if you can blame sufism for this event, then what do you think of TTP, ISIL? Are they followers of sufism?
As for statistics, I can't find the link right now but according to Pakistan government's own website, some 44% of the population is barelvi. The original population might be higher, for Pakistani establishment is predominantly deobandi and wahaabi and words of statistics from their mouths are doubtful. Regardless, most non-Pashtun Pakistanis are barelvi.
PS: Must say, halaal dollars and certain tele-mullahs "converting" Amir Khans and Veena Maliks on live TV have brought you guys a long way. Before Zia, Barelvis were estimated to be more than 70% of Pakistan. It was Zia who opened the pathway to halaal dollars. Ever wondered why Maulana Abdul "Burqa" Aziz drives a land cruiser, while your neighbourhood's green turban wearer drives a motorcycle or mehraan? Yes, it's because of the halaal dollars that have been coming in since the 80s.
