Pakistani father sacrifices five children 'to gain magic powers'

Lets not paint everyone with single brush. Sufism or any religious sect has nothing to do with what an idiot with retard plans does in his home.

On topic, I'm sure he'll find some magical powers after getting hanged.

I've given you the generalised explanation of the phenomena. You would find that people of a particular school of thought (corrupted beyond recognition) are OK with blowing themselves up to kill women and children. That too is just as barbaric.

However, @janbazz @K-Xeriod please, don't discuss religion here.
This specific idea of amaliyat, I'm sure you would never find any non-Sufi believer involve in it, my question is where it comes from in our society? their are many sufi believers who think that mystic qualities are the highest level of sufism which can be achieved by sacrifices.

You're wrong unfortunately(sorry to burst your bubble). Sufism originated in Saudi Arabia and Iraq. And "Sufism" is not a sect. Majority of the so called "Sufis" were and are sunnis. And they are found all over the world. Read who converted the people of Pakistan, Indonesia, Central Asia, Chechnya etc to Islam. Here's a hint; it wasn't the Ibn-e-Saud dynasty and the ISIL.

wtf has Iranian Sufism to do with this specific crime in Pakistan? My point is all of Pakistani society is messed up. There is corruption politics and religion. And we have enough people blindly following religious dogma without questioning their leaders.

Stop targeting the religion of majority of Pakistanis(and myself) after events like these. These "Pirs" as you claim target a single person. Wahaabi terrorists have killed 50,000 people. Connect the dots.
Show me census, not estimates . . Pakistan is diverse and democratic country , their is nothing wrong in criticizing the elements behind the sacrificing events to gain mystic powers.

A couple of members here on this thread have an extra gene.

Anyways I am converting to Sufism on the day of the full moon and then I will sacrifice @s.k and @K-Xeroid to gain magical powers.

Black magic practices are rooted in mystic Sufi lore and have traditionally been the domain of pirs and aamils (sorcerers).

The practice is particularly strong in rural parts of the country including the impoverished southern Sindh province where the killings took place.

Utter rubbish whoever wrote this. Author has no knowledge to pass this silly judgement. Whoever believes the words to be true with no information on the subject is either a slave of a suffocated ideology or a random fool.

It is not that simple. Some PERSON has deliberately attempted to associate black magic with Sufiism i.e. with Islam. Have you heard about non-Muslim Sufi? In Islam, as you know, magic, black or white, is absolutely haram that is not permissible. Some clown here are trying to associate black magic with sufi amalyat, which are totally different for there we do repeated recitation of certain words or sentences or paras from Quran. Those who are interested to know what Sufisim (more correctly 'tassawwuf') is are recommended to read 'Masnavi Moulana Room', 'Kashaf al Mahjoob', another useful read is 'Tazkara Ghosia'. It upsets me greatly when I see people commenting (as experts) on topic(s) of which they do not have even slightest of clue.
