So what's the story behind this SAAB 2000? According to planespotters net, this former Crossair/Swiss/Polet SAAB 2000 was acquired by PAF in April 2016 and registered as J-029.

The whole airplane was apparently burnt to cinders. This is a new pheonix rising from the ashes of the old one. The 176 million $ were spent getting a new radar and other equipment necessary for the conversion. So we are told by reliable people on the forum.
