A horrible news, RIP. What organization in Afghan may do this?

Who would shoot a Pakistan diplomat? Not unless he was less a diplomat and more of an intelligence operative.

There is no game. Just a victim as Pakistan isn't going to do anything and the cycle will continue on

Regardless, if the guy was under official protection under that status of a diplomat his killing is an attack.

I hope there is some much bigger game. I was familiar with Indo-Pak rivalry but wasn't aware of the intensity and the level of it till I came to PDF. The threads on Kashmir, Chabahar and social problems are the most amusing. Frankly It would be disappointing if their is no bigger game, considering PDF will miss out on lot of "interesting and amusing" threads.

A Pakistani diplomat serving at the consulate in Afghanistan's Jalalabad city was shot dead on Monday evening, DawnNews reported.

Two assailants riding a motorbike opened fire on Nayyar Iqbal as he bought goods at a shop, Pakistan's ambassador to Afghanistan Zahid Nasrullah Khan said.

Attaullah Khogyani, the spokesman for the provincial governor in Nangarhar, confirmed the incident saying the employee of Pakistan's consulate was shot by two gunmen on a motorcycle in Jalalabad, the province's capital.

“Police have launched an investigation into the incident. No arrests have been made so far,” Khogyani told

Iqbal was the assistant to the consul general in Jalalabad, the capital of restive Nangarhar province, which borders Pakistan.

Khan said he had “absolutely no idea” why Iqbal, a father of five, was targeted.

The staffer's body has been shifted to a hospital in Jalalabad for postmortem examination.

Iqbal hailed from Sialkot and was working in the consulate's visa section.

Islamabad condemned the killing of its diplomat in Jalalabad and demanded increased security for the staff and employees working in Afghanistan, Foreign Office Spokesperson Dr Faisal said.

The Foreign Office has also summoned the Afghan chargé d'affaires to protest against the gruesome murder of Pakistani official in Jalalabad.

The incident comes a few months after two Pakistani diplomats working at the same consulate in Jalalabad were kidnapped and later freed.

That is very bad ... wrong move. Now again Afghan push back Pak reconciliation move. When COAS in Iran for peace process in Afghanistan.
