Pakistani defence industrial base better than ours: Indian Army Vice Chief Lt. Gen. Sarath Chand

If there are 250 millions Dalits(untouchables) in India and a mere 6% of population is Brahmin(high caste), and according to reports daily about 3 Dalits are killed in India, not mentioning the daily killing rate of Muslims who are as worst as Dalits in India.

...and India calls it 'diversity'.

It means if there are high caste, and low cast Dalits treated as sub human, it should be called 'diversity', in India.
Hushhhh...Plz dont break that utopia which was created just a few minutes ago.

hope he will not be lynched by mad hindus roaming openly to target people who talk logic and sense.

For that they first have to recover beef from his possession :P

he did even a bigger sin in india by saying positive about Pakistan so deserve a brutal lynching.

he need to send his crack team on the fat bosses of those Indian defence industries and surgically remove them and install his sons and nephews then all will be well

Since you are the only one that can understand these things .
Trade unions and luxury of easy govt salary and power made OFB very incompetent.

And he was only talking about the ammos and artillery development not high end ,high tech equipments.

This comments are only for insult nothing for good OFB .Army recently mock them with another topic.
But that end there .

But thanks to the private sector arrival ,trade unions and OFB is really worry about their luxurious future .

And FYI he has two sons and one is a major in IA and other is a lieuntant in IN

You certainly know more about IA than Indian Army Vice Chief Lt. Gen. Sarath Chand, should work as a think tank in Indian Army or replace him.

...or better still read the article again.

excerpt from the article...

“I would even go to the extent of saying that Pakistan probably has a better industrial base, as far as defence production is concerned, than our country. In fact they export defence equipment abroad, definitely more than what we are doing,”

“There is little or no research and development. They do not even have the capability of absorbing the industry through transfer of technology, and in some cases they have even failed to assemble products that have been imported from abroad,” Lt. Gen. Chand said.

so the statement is not just about Ordnance factories, Ammo's and mortars, rockets and RPG's, though POF exports multiple weapons to dozens of countries.

It is also about missiles and MIRV tech, about tritium headed tactical cruise missiles, about trainer aircraft and light combat aircraft(Pakistan is exporting Mashak to Turkey and many other countries) like JF-17(about 70 of them inducted in PAF). About armored drones like Burraq(IA has none).

According to reports Pakistan now manufacture 70% of its defence equipment locally, a huge surge in recent years, while India imports about 90% of it.

There are many other aspects of it...

It is also about the combination of 'man and machine'...finally.

First two paras are the real one from article .
Look at the his careful chose of word 'even go to extent' .
It was about the OFB .Otherwise they didnt have to glorify the Pinaka and is so happy about new ATAGS developed by DRDO with private sectors .

70% export and 90% import .
Where did you get this statistics ?
He didnt say anything about it .

So all I can see here is a taunting of our VCOAS against our nothing for good OFB babus has taken by Pakistanis as a compliments and so we want to accept Pakistan is highly industrialised country than us .
Not going to happen .
It is because you dont have that capability .If you have we will agree with it .

In the case of China,Turkey etc we will agree they are defintely better than us

Two different things Pakistan not a highly industrialized country' and 'Pakistan having a relatively higher military industrial complex'...the world acknowledges it...

excerpt from DAWN.

"Last year, defence hardware worth $1.5bn was produced locally, Pakistan Aeronautical Complex at Kamra, which manufactures JF-17 Thunder fighter jet, Mushak and Super Mushak aircraft produced equipment worth a billion dollars last year.

Supplies worth another $500 million came from other production facilities catering for the Army and the Navy. These included the Heavy Industries Taxila (HIT) and the Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF)."

Meanwhile ,our shipyards order is filled for at least next five years .
Our requirment is very high .
We can export but then we will have a MIC that almost equal to the size of the US or Russia .

That is the difference .

the moment you said India has a MIC which is equal to US, you lost the argument and the truth here as well...

USA is a 20 trillion USD economy, India is 2.4 trillion USD, check the population of US and India.

US MIC is about 22% of there GDP, the highest percentile in the world that makes it about 4.5 trillion USD worth...now compare the MIC of US which is 4.5 trillion USD with the total, combine GDP of India which is 2.45 trillion USD...

There is absolutely no comparison between MIC of US and MIC of India, MIC of India is not even 5% of military industrial complex of US...check the figures on internet.

How can you say such a preposterous thing...has high respect.

@amardeep mishra too bad for Indian 'research'
Hi @CriticalThought
You failed to read the entire article, this is a personal opinion of a serving Lt general. Besides he was refering to the "defence production related to OFB". OFB is not authorized to carry out any research, it is the job of DRDO/NAL/ISRO. Once a system has been designed it is passed onto OFB for mass production. Again, there are many OFBs factories in India and some are doing good too, Lt gen failed to mention that.
There is no doubt that OFB isnt performing optimally and infact should be disband and Lt Gen's comments are being twisted and churned based on the whims and fantasies of various people.

Do you have any comprehension issue?

'We can export but then we will have a MIC '.
Means that kind of exports only happens when you have a surplus capability after satisfying all requirements of Indian Forces which is already several times higher than Pakistan's entire MIC .
Our requirements are very high .

Everything requires attention and investment to flourish. Pakistan is flourishing where she is paying attention and is investing(defense). India on the other hand is paying attention on some other fields where it is doing better than us.

Though this is about military Industrial complex welfare or business facet of Pak Army...but it all adds up. One reason even with a low defence budget of 9.5 billion USD, Pakistan Army is better equipped and better fed. Some excerpts from Ayesha Siddiqa's 'Military Inc's.

Pakistani army's '$20bn' business
Al Jazeera takes a look at how the Pakistani military is turning a profit.

The Pakistani military's "welfare foundations" run thousands of businesses worth tens of billions of dollars, ranging from street-corner petrol pumps to sprawling industrial plants, says Ayesha Siddiqa, the author of Military Inc: Inside Pakistan's Military Economy.
