Pakistani air force getting EW system

. . .
1- These pods will enhance the operations spectrum for F-16s, While F-16s can blind the enemy radars, JFTs can chip in as Wild Wiesels. Though JFT has its own dedicated EW suit, which i think, would not be mate-able with F-16s. Apparently PAF is looking for diverse equipment for F-16s. BVR,PGA,Recce and now EW. I think its a good move.

What do you mean by JF-17's dedicated EW equipment?

Yes it has it's own radar, Radar warning receiver etc but it doesnt have dedicated jammers on board. It needs those in the form of pods and we are not sure which Pods those are.....except for the WMD 7 which is i think a recon and targeting pod.

.
i mean in which platform would it be used in F16 jet or awacs or a special aerial vehicle :what:

It is a Defensive EW suite mainly used in Fighters and aircrafts to jam the radars of incoming active guided missile radars.

. .
so no specific platform Isnt :agree:
either F16 or any combat jet may be used for specific EW :partay:

Well you need a lot of power for running an EW aircraft. Usually the aircraft is stripped off it's combat capability just to accomodate the EW system leaving it with only minimal self defense.

If you are talking about something like SPECTRA then it is a capability that is existent in very few modern aircrafts like the Growler, which arent on offer in the market.

On a side note, presence of a dedicated EW aircraft to distribute the work load of combat aircraft pilots is the other solution.

But providing power to the EW systems on board is heavily taxing on the small fighter engines. And also the increased payload of the EW systems onboard the aircraft makes the aircraft heavier.

And I think the WSO/RIO will be the operator who operate the EW intercept systems. It would be really taxing for the pilot to both fly the aircraft and take care of jamming in an dedicated EW aircraft.

EW fighter works in conjuction with fighter wing i.e. Its not necessary that every fighter will have EW suit attached to them. For example, In a strike package, there may be one dedicated growler, a couple of bomb trucks and one or two over-watchers. Its not like each aircraft would be equipped with dedicated EW. Furthermore, I think people here are confusing EW and ECM. While ECM is a defensive technology. EW is an offensive capability rather than a defensive one.

KG-300G is what you should be searching for....I know it has ECM capability, but can it be used in offensive EW (aka Electronic Attack Capability)? thats something i dont know...

Yes that is what I meant...remember desert storm and the EF-111 Aardwark?

And tis is something that will remain under the curtain for quite a time to come. As much as we have known about jft and FC-20, there is much that is hidden and will remain so.

The line can be quite blurred between the two. Technically speaking, ECM and ECCM fall under the EW umbrella. However, in practical terms, when an aircraft is a dedicated ECM platform, like the EF-111, its capability, which includes a dedicated human operator to guide the EW suite, will generally be assigned a more electronically 'aggressive' posture, from mission planning to actual engagement. This platform can do both seek out potential enemy EM sources and preemptively engage them while providing EM cover for friendly forces. Fighters that carry EW pods usually employs them to cover one's self in attack and escape. Dedicate EWarriors are always much more preferable.
