Pakistan workers' remittances rise over 23pc to $8.59bn

That is because the number of the Indian diaspora is several times larger than Pakistans. According to wiki their diaspora is 30 million + in contrast to Pakistans 4.2 million. Percentage wise hence Pakistanis send back more money than Indians. If Pakistan was a stable country then the diaspora would send back even more cash.

You are right, but thats a passive approach.. If Population size was the only criteria, USA would have never been a Financial super power.. Anyway, good job NRPs ... Proud to call some of them my good friends...

Growing remittances amounting to 5% of Pakistan's gdp from the nation's diaspora provide an important lifeline for the state of Pakistan in funding its large current account deficit and in helping the individuals and families receiving the funds to supplement their incomes.

Remittances are a source of income for households in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and other provinces in Pakistan, according to a 2010 World Bank report titled "Poverty fell in Pakistan in 2001-08 partly because of remittances". A recent Asian Development Bank study found that foreign remittances constituted 9.4 percent of household income in KP, compared to 5.1% for Punjab, 1.5% for Baluchistan, and 0.7% for Sindh.

Haq's Musings: Pakistani Diaspora is the World's 7th Largest

^^^ Sindh really is a sad state of affairs (only 0.7% of households in Sindh get remittances). While it has some urban centers (Karachi, Hyderabad; & to lesser extents, Nawabshah, Larkana, Sukkur, Mirpurkhas etc), it is obvious that the Sindhi elites (waderas & non-waderas, inside & outside the government) have no concern for the plight of the common man. Traveling to a some of the rural parts of Sindh, I would say that parts of KP & Balochistan are better than them.

You comparison is misplaced. Indian diaspora far outnumbers the Pakistani diaspora. As a result, Indian remittances are bound to be higher in absolute numbers.

Actually, American Pakistani is right in his assessment. On a per capita basis Pakistani workers send $2000 as opposed to Indian per capita remittances of $4824 ( Pakistani Diaspora is 4.7 million as opposed to Indian Diaspora of 11.4 million ). On a per capita basis chinese worker sends $6100.

thats bound to happen because the proportion of white collare to blue collar workers are higher for india than compared to pakistan. this is reflected in the higer pay per capita and hence higher remittance

Do you have the stats to back that up?
Personally speaking, I see equal numbers of Pakistani and Indians in both whit and blue collar jobs.

Again Indians overseas are 30+ million and send 55 billion, Pakistanis 4.2 million and send 13 billion$ back home.

in countries like us and se asia you hardly find any pakistani in managerial positions of big firms. you do find them occassionaly but its rare. i dont know about canada, but in uk there are probably a healthy ratio of pakistani and indian white collar workers. remember that there are hndreds of thousands of it workers from india who tilt the balance in indias favour. typically they get paid around 70000 US$ and can remit back a healthy sum.

that's not true i know a lot of people that are up there, the only thing is that there are a lot more Indians around the world for obvious reasons (population size) :agree:

First of all even in ur Give Link the Indian is 24 million or 30 Million there is a Confusion in the Total ...

& secondly Ur Counting People of NRI's Along with People of Indian Origin ... Both r Different cases...NRI's r the only one who Send Back there Money to India As they Still have a Family Here...

while people who r not NRIs Dont sent Money Back to India... These People of Indian Origin r One who Settled in Countries During Colonial era as British Citizens or Taken Forcibly for Farm or Labor Works ... they r Only Indian By origin But Have No Connections with India...

i dont know, in the 4 investment bank that i have worked in US and singapore there were very few pakistanis in both IT and business sides. probably 1 pakistani to 25 indians i know there was a very senior guy in the businesss side, but apart from that never seen too many. Also in my earlier days when i was in IT, I saw pakistanis in very few niche areas like network that too mostly in companies started by pakistanis in the US. i am not denying there are nt pakistanis , its just that they are outnumbered (if india-pak population is 6:1, their overseas white collar workers are something like 20:1) again UK is exception there are probably 1 pak to 3 indians there in banks and nonIT workplaces

Again 4.2 million figure for Pakistanis also include those with Pak origin.

overseas Pakistanis are working hard and their lives are full of struggles and hardships . They are contributing a lot in our economy . I think Overseas ministry should give some benefits to these Pakistanis

Overseas ministry is giving them benefits thts why the remittances are increasing ..
we should apreciate the efforts of current govt for increasing remittances after 2009.
