Pakistan will never fight anyone else’s war, PM vows at Defence Day ceremony

Did I say it does? I was kid who thought it was retribution for my uncle. The concept of 'patriot' was not exactly on my mind. I am not sure even if I knew what that was even at that age. It was just bad guys/good guys. And in my mind they were 'bad'.

Kids do stupid shit I guess.

Actually this during a phase when I was slightly out of control. I would pretend to go to school and then 'slam' or miss school and then just spend the day messing around with other 'slamers'. This went on for about 3 months until I got caught by the truent officers. I recieved a beating by the school head. He used a steel ruler on the hands. Then I came home and got a thrashing from my dad with the leather chappels. I never missed a day of my school ever after that and became a model student.

Not that I agree with corporal punishment!

This was our war from the very start.
While 70k pakistanis are dead and $ 125 billion are lost to the economy, our PM nullifies the fact that we have been fighting this war since 1980s.

Spare the rod, spoil your child....

his statement has no value and power infront of army

army takes decision about war and govt has nothing to do with
I suppose you have no idea what the constitution is or exactly how the state functions. The army is a organ of the government. It is not some separate entity. The PM as chief executive is head of all organs of the state. But then all this finesse is beyond you and I know we have lots stunted people so I must make allowance for that.

You can't blame him, generals have ruled the country half of the time after independence.you don't have to get personal ,I am sure he is matured enough to understand if you show him the PM,chief executive is the head of all organs of the state thing was recent thing and was not there when the generals where ruling the state.

Sir ji kyun jaan kay masoom ban rahay hen?

One would believe that the sky is not blue rather than preach that Pak Army doesn't (try to) control our foreign policy.

I personally never champion democracy and have no issue with Army running state affairs but I loose patience when Army's meddling in state affairs is denied.

In my opinion, we need to modify our constitution and officially make Army a stake holder in deciding foreign policy. What has already been happening since always needs to be given a constitutional backing.

If you mean Pervez Musharraf, that was a desperate moment back in 2001. Pakistan was not a very strong nation back then.

Much has changed since then. Now it is 2018 and we are getting close to 2020. The world is a very different place now.

Personally I never liked despots because they have this tendency of going against the will of the majority in order to appease their personal allies. However, I do believe that in 2001 immediately after the 9/11, somehow Musharraf managed to dissuade the Bush administration from attacking Pakistan. It was a dangerous moment and he acted wisely. Now Pakistan is much stronger and she has China firmly backing her, so now is the time to confront india's godfather.

He could have bargained better. Which he did not. Since he had come through coup (And I am no fan of nawaz) he wanted a legitimacy to his government. In exchange he sold out for much less.

Perhaps he could but he simply did what any un-elected despot would have done. This is the problem with self-imposed despots.
