Wow Great !! Such a great year for Pakistan. However, the question is:
Turkey has around 67 T-38 training jets in its inventory. Providing 38 jets will leave Turkish Air-force with just 29. So, doubtful...

Damn this ill informed media.
The information i have is that it's not T-38s but the T-37s, which we already operate.
Turkey had some surplus T-37 trainers and a deal has been done on them, some are in fly away conditions while others will be used as source of spares.

Hmmm...interesting news. Thank you Turkey. I think Pakistan can find a very suitable role for this aircraft. T-38 fits somewhere in between K-8 and F-16 or JFT. Pilots can move from K-8 to T-38 and then straight to F-16 or JFT. We did not have this option and if one can recall PAF has recently shown interest in T-50 for same reason. LIFT removes one step in the ladder i.e F-7 or Mirage which are already dwindling in numbers. If these aircraft give PAF 10 years of service then I think it is a godsent. It buys us time to complete ongoing acquisitions while saving money for next LIFT after 10 years which could be T-50 or M-346 or maybe Yak-130. Dual seat JFT is far from production and not a LIFT. T-38 on other hand is offered free and will definitely run more economical. It is also a veteran and matured trainer unlike dual seat JFT or L-15.

I wonder if PAF will set up a dedicated aerobatic team with this aircraft?! That could be a good option too.

Something tells me PAF is looking for LIFT class aircraft. Looking at recent interest in T-50, no?

what if your sources are wrong

T-38 Talons are Supersonic Advanced Trainer and these will be a great addition to Pakistan's Training Regime. Pakistan already has MFI-17 Mushak Basic Trainer, Plus T-37 Tweets and K-8 as our Intermediate Trainers and now T-38 Supersonic Advanced Trainers would add more Punch to our training regime.

So now we have:

BASIC TRAINERS :
MFI-17 Mushak / 149 Aircraft

INTERMEDIATE TRAINERS :
K-8 / 60 Aircraft
T-37 Tweets / 39 Aircraft

ADVANCED TRAINERS :
T-38 Talons / 34 Aircraft

That would definitely Bolster our Pilot Training Program.

Thanks to our Turkish Friends.

I believe such platforms are also very efficient in counter insurgency role.

Well, i can confirm that T-37 deal has been done with Turkey which no source has reported.

Wouldn't something like M-346 or T-50 a good option for PAF? It can serve as LIFT, TTP bashing, Anti Smuggling ops, CAS during war and counter insurgency. All that within budget. I'm impressed with especially M-346 (a derivative of Yak-130 but westernised). Israel chose it and probably USAF is looking at it to replace it's T-38s.
