Pakistan is expected to become the sixth largest nation in the world by 2050, according to data published by Population Reference Bureau (PRB).

The data lists down ten countries that will receive the greatest increase in population by 2050. Pakistan which is listed number six on the list is expected to reach a population of 344 million as the world population reaches 9,7 billion in 2050.

Further, India tops the list as the world’s largest country in 2050 as its population is expected to grow to 1,660 million. Whereas, China makes it to number two and United States to number three as the largest countries by population in 2050.

An earlier report by the Population Division of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs of the United Nations also revealed similar findings.

The report predicted that between 2015 and 2050, half of the world’s population growth is expected to be concentrated in nine countries, including Pakistan, India, Nigeria, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, United Republic of Tanzania, United States of America, Indonesia and Uganda, while confirming that Pakistan’s population is expected to surpass 300 million by 2050.

The report also indicated a key increase in population in African countries making, one-third of the world African by 2050.

Commenting on the population-data revelations, Wu Hongbo, UN Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs said: “Understanding the demographic changes that are likely to unfold over the coming years, as well as the challenges and opportunities that they present for achieving sustainable development, is key to the design and implementation of the new development agenda.”

However, Jennifer Blanke, chief economist for World Economic Forum expressed concern about the report, questioning how the governments will manage the growing populations in the respective countries.

“If these countries are to meet the needs of their rapidly growing populations, they have to be able to deliver both sustainable economic growth and social inclusion. But while almost everyone agrees with that, we’re still struggling to establish the best way of achieving it. That’s something political, business and civil society leaders will need to work together on, and is indeed the main goal of the initiative I’m leading.” She said.

Its scary thinking about future of Pakistan...unlike India Pakistanis don't follow family planning...every family has 3 kids minimum and 10 kids maximum (on average)....this is a very serious problem for Pakistanis....they are sleeping without any worry..befikar bandhe

.
I doubt

Pakistan TFR has decreased to 3 from more than 5 in the 90's and the population growth rate is also down to 1.7%.

Most likey it will be less than 300Million

.
I wish this is not true news. It will only create burden in economy. Government should advertise sale of free condoms, and other programs to stop population as much as possible.

How can maximum be an average ?

Fair. But there is some truth. Amongst the highly qualified people in my office, the six Indians have 7 kids and the two Pakistanis 8.

We are talking about multiple degree holder foreign passport carrying middle to senior management people.

Yet I read on this forum comments about how Indians breed like rabbits or rats or some such twice today.

Here some programs are active for family planning like green stars, there are thousands of lady health workers too. But some religious people don,t believe in this, and they says Allah will arrange their necessities, while they endup with poverty and throwing children in madrasa for free food because parents can't feed their one dozen children.

India had the same future issue if you go back and sit with families around India till 1995, a COMMON discussion used to be, what will happen with the country as its population is growing, there is nothing to do and the numbers of kids aren't stopping. So then came Bill Clinton (who you should all have a picture of in your house hold, next to Nehru, just showing your appreciation for who took your entire nation out of ditch to heaven).

So slowly, came about the economic growth funded by the US, both inside India and in the US by allowing people to have the H1B. Well, India is 5 times larger population mess than Pakistan is. Something tells me that Pakistan will be JUST fine and its on the right track. It has MUCH less people to worry about.

By the way, over 600 million people can't take a shiit (literally) with the proper sanitary and hand washing involved. How about you focus on worrying about over half of your population getting basic necessities of life first? and THEN worry about the neighboring country? I mean 600 million people in India, without bathrooms, proper beds to sleep on required decades of work by itself to provide them with these basics. Go tell your government to spend the trillions on its people, instead of building space crafts and weapons???
