Pakistan's Ajmal fined for aggressive behavior

Pakistan offspinner Saeed Ajmal was fined 15 percent of his match fee for his aggressive behavior following the dismissal of Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara in Wednesday's Twenty20 international.

Ajmal was found guilty of breaching the International Cricket Council's Code of Conduct which refers to "Pointing or gesturing toward the pavilion in an aggressive manner by a bowler or other members of the fielding side upon the dismissal of a batsman," the ICC said Thursday.

The incident occurred in the 14th over of the Sri Lanka innings at the R. Premadasa Stadium when Ajmal gave Sangakkara an aggressive send off after dismissing him for 38 runs.

Ajmal returned figures of 3-18 for the match, which Pakistan won by 52 runs.

Ajmal had faced losing up to half his match fee.

Match referee Alan Hurst said he took into account that the bowler immediately apologized to both umpires, and to Sangakkara after the match.

"The player had no previous instances of this type of behavior but it was pointed out to him during the hearing that his actions were a clear breach of the ICC Code of Conduct and something seen not only on the replay screen at the ground but also by the many millions of people watching on television around the world," Hurst said. "This type of action cannot be tolerated as it does not promote the playing of the game in the expected positive spirit."

Pakistan's Ajmal fined for mocking Sangakkara

COLOMBO — Pakistan's Saeed Ajmal has been fined for gesturing at Sri Lankan captain Kumar Sangakkara during a Twenty20 match, the International Cricket Council (ICC) said on Thursday.

The off-spinner pointed towards the pavilion and spoke aggressively to Sangakkara after bowling him during Pakistan's 52-run victory in the T20 international here on Wednesday night.

Match referee Alan Hurst of Australia found Ajmal guilty of breaching the ICC's Code of Conduct and fined him 15 percent of his match fee following a post-match hearing.

"In coming to my decision, I took into account the fact the player immediately recognised his error of judgment and apologised to both umpires," Hurst said in an ICC statement.

"He also did so to Kumar Sangakkara after the game.

"The player had no previous instances of this type of behaviour, but it was pointed out to him during the hearing that his actions were a clear breach of the Code of Conduct and something seen not only on the replay screen at the ground but also by many millions of people watching on television around the world.

"This type of action cannot be tolerated as it does not promote the playing of the game in the expected positive spirit," said Hurst.

It was not clear what Ajmal's fees were for the match or the amount he would be fined.

AFP: Pakistan's Ajmal fined for mocking Sangakkara

Its sad that Sangakara's furiating argument with Younis Khan in the odis and later with Afridi in the T20 when he ran off the overthrow went unnoticed .
A silent targetting of Pakistani players i guess.

ICC rules sucks ........... these are only made for pakistan murali also in 4th odi asked afridi to leave with finger where was ICC rules went trhan and when umpire given not out to younis khan why he went arguing with younis to leave the field this sangkara *** hole when he nicks the bowl he stands there why he waits for umpire than what happened with akmal he edged the bowl but given out where was went sangakars fair play
