Pakistan TV dramas are too feminist, says watchdog

Glad someone wants to move beyond sas bahu.

My ideas for TV dramas;

  • Gangster series based around Zardari and his rise to power (change name, faces, location - tell his story)
  • Thriller about ISI support of Afghan mujahideen in soviet era
  • documentary series about the life of the different sufi saints and poets of Pakistan
  • drama series about the creation of Pakistan, take inspiration from Roots and Ertugrul
  • drama about the life of Allama Iqbal focusing on his teachings and poetry
  • Drama about the life of Quaid-e-azam
  • Drama series about the great Gama (Ghulam Muhammad buskh Pelhwan)
  • Documentary series about foods of different Pakistani cultures
  • Documentary series about the hand crafted things and skills unique to Pakistan

.
Pakistani dramas declined significantly during the early 2000’s and now are mostly about zina and chars.

Some of the lifestyles of actors/actresses, directors, and their illicit relationships is even more scandalous than their dramas.

We need a new wave of fresh content for Pakistan. Historical epics are needed more than ever. Islamic content also needs to be reinvented and given priority.

Turkish Dirilis Ertugrul is one such example to emulate for historical action dramas. I’m sure many of you know about it because of its popularity. It shows the life of the father of Osman gazi (Ottoman founder) and his holy war against the crusaders and mongols.

Another is Yunus Emre which is about a famous Sufi poet’s life and his departure from his old profession as a qazi (judge.) was

Lion of the Desert, a Hollywood movie by the director of the Message (Ar Risala,) details the life of Omar Mukhtar, the leader of the Libyan resistance against Italian occupation

Some other Hollywood movies with similar themes: Gladiator, Braveheart, Troy, Ben-Hur (original).

lol don't blame me - i live in the UK. Don't watch indian channels or Pakistani channels.

I tried to watch PTV but it looks like someone left a feed from the 1970's on.

About time these channels hire some male writers to increase the quality and viewer ship of Pakistani drama.

The existing cringe worthy scripts are only good at spoiling the youth.

Mmmm...I dunno about that. I know feminist, just watch american tv shows where women are shown as rude and domineering while men are shown as feminine and passive. I don't see that in Pakistani dramas and I do get subscribe to Pakistani channels. What I do see in our shows is a yearning from women to be taken seriously and acknowledged for their mind and intelligence instead of pretty baby making and food cooking machines. Frankly I don't see anything wrong with that. They are a part and parcel of our social fabric and should be acknowledged as important and respected.

Oh man, if I had money I would invest in that so much. There are so many good stories and so many fiction stories that can be made becuse of the location pakistan is in. Like imagine making a series on a fake kingdom, something like Porus. Surrounded by enemies with the threat of invasion on their door step. Letting the kingdom fall with one of the royal members escaping the onslaught and then then story would focus on him going around the region until he had an army large enough to take back the kingdom. We have to much talent in music too. I was watching a great video that @Trailer23 made and I was surprised with the song used in it. The song has so much motivation and feeling, imagine making it the OST of a great series. It would be stuck in everyone's heads. I was also watching TV and a new drama OST started to play. It has the ruins of castles and I thought to myself, this is it. Decided to watch it and it also revolves around family drama :hitwall:
Listen to this song and imagine it wasnt about a family drama but the story I want to be made. It fits very well.

It's not feminist, that's the wrong terminology, it's just female oriented. We feel left out.

In that case, we need to combine our minds and make make oriented dramas like thrillers, sci fis, cops n robbers... I'd love to see a remake of andhayra ujala!
Imagine having a series on the police, like in Karachi or other city. Dealing with gangsters, political pressure, terrorism and other provinces police.

.
LOL... How I left this thread yesterday and how and what it transformed into, not that I complain. It was a good laugh especially 2 kids talking about 'liberal' wives. lmfao

Hey man, I maybe a boring IT guy, but I've a pretty artistic side and have quite a bit of ideas and stories in my mind that I'd like to on the tv screen. What you said about Karachi cops and gangsters IS actually one of my ideas, the story plot revolves around a college professor in lyari! :D

Bro I have seen many dramas , never seen any bed scenes or intimate couple scenes ??? . Why they mentioned that .

That's what I watch to help with my urdu and learn ways of destroying the family or someone's love life. There are so many techniques

Ok ok, how's this...You guys remember the army dramas "Sunhayray Din"? It had another army drama sequel to it called "Alpha Bravo Charlie but the sequel didn't have the character of Saleem Sheikh in it but had all of his PMA course mates were in it? How about yet another sequel...BUT with Saleem Sheikh in it BUT as a serious, mysterious, mature officer who is an SSG member WITH a very dark and black ops type of a story where Saleem Sheikh has a very grim and a battle hardened personality. Basically the story of how a young and a cheerful full of life 2nd lieutenant got transformed into a cold hearted, ruthless killing machine. The first one was called "Sunhayray Din", let's call this one..."ANDHAYRI RAATAIN"! 8-) what do you all think?
