Pakistan - Turkey (PAC-TAI) Collaboration for NGFA-TFX 5th Gen Aircraft l Updates, News & Discussion

If Pakistan declares interest in more than a certain number of units (which probably and already discussing in detail in the delegation meetings), it is probably not a Pakistani acquisition of KAAN, but a parallel final assembly line in Pakistan. In other words, Pakistan can meet its needs with the production in its own facilities, When KAAN reaches the maturity and configuration desired by the Pakistani air force..

I can give the production of F-16s at TAI facilities as an example of such production functions. The facilities in Ankara were the second largest centre for Lockheed's F-16 production outside the US. F-16 production in TR started as the assembly line for the airframe and engine, and now the aircraft, including all avionics, is fully indigenised except for the engine. Also, TAF's 401. The test fleet and technical infrastructure is probably the most advanced F-16 test and certification facility outside the USA.

The other issue is financial means. First of all, it is necessary to separate the combat aircraft from the others, perhaps with a few specific systems. When two countries enter into a partnership in this field, they are essentially committing to a kind of strategic relationship for a period of more than 50 years. As the relationship becomes more strategic, the areas of contact become more versatile. Countries begin to pave the way for each other in the field in which they are strong.

The establishment of a real strategic relationship between Pakistan and Turkiye in the aerospace industries is important first and foremost because it will be the seal of this bond. All these are not only for KAAN, I really believe that this is only the first step. The first step is the most difficult, not the most extreme. Let alone combatant air assets, hopefully our flags will be side by side on the moon, inshallah. Think not of today, but of things to come decades from now.

Pakistani and Turkish interests are largely parallel, the area of conflict does not exist today and is unlikely to exist in the future. Increasing the military deterrence or technological capacity of one party serves the interests of the other.

Look at other such groups of countries in the world that can be positively affected by each other's capabilities and have common interests. Evaluate their level of relationship and ours. We are only at the beginning.

I'd hope TUSAS, Aselsan, Havelsan, etc, bypass our SOEs and deal with our private sector. IMO, the Turks will get exponentially more mileage by investing and establishing our private sector than by leaning on the SOEs. Yes, it'll cost more upfront, but they'll save way, way, way more in 10-20 years.

I think the Turkish companies are more after the raw talents in Pakistan to be groomed and grilled into their own cultures.....

That may be best for Pakistan as well. What Pakistan private sector lacks is a proper culture. The landscape in every sector is dominated be nepotism instead of merit or is governed by ex army who may run tighter ships (usually not... Its just a post retirement severance) but due to army culture, has a lack of growth, development, and creativity (or its stamped out to be brought to heel under the foot of the leader).

Im surprised so many of these "analysts" struggle to understand what "Pakistan brings to the table". Have they no idea that nobody will be able to afford this plane unless massive orders are placed for it? Something Pakistan is likely to do. 90+ planes and the question is still "what does Pakistan bring to the table", so silly.

I dont think the Naval air arm really has a choice. Allowing them to pursue a fighter means the PAF will probably lose its control and funding to some extent. IIRC, those naval mirages were under VERY tight PAF control. Navy doesn't really need them anyway. Countering the IAFs carrier aircraft doesnt start in the sky, rather, it starts underwater;)
Lessons of 71 says otherwise. Lessons of 2/27 say / repeat about the same as PAF along with IAF struggled in the end to keep up the sortie rate and IN Air Arm wasn't even involved.

tbh it's not even Army culture, just lazy uncle culture. That's why we can't even trust civilian politicians.

Pakistan shouldn't ignore the "engine" part of the program too! Now that around 300 engineers are working on KAAN's engine to finalize the detailed design as per Prof Aksit, TEI's CEO, it's the right time to give some inputs and be a part of it. Please note that TEI is modelled after GE, which owns 49% of it. It means there is a "library of parts" available and being constantly improved. To be included into the "library" each part is individually designed, fabricated and tested to be qualified for the specified performance and reliability. Once the design is ready you just pick and plug the parts to implement your desired design. And, then test it as a whole system as it's manufactured using the latest "recipes". No "Asian" style shortcuts are allowed; only the "Prusssian" work ethics are followed. Aero engines are no jokes from the "brown" folks, it's the "White Man's" adobe.....

To design, manufacture, verify&test a engine for Gen-4 fighter, a country need to invest multi billion usd, 10,000(if not more) technical manpower, and decades of time. good luck! 😅

Actually the problem is that whenever they (some countries & some people) say any kind of collaboration between (Pakistan & China or Pakistan & Turkey) they always get pain in there stomachs & after that they start some sort of propaganda tactics for sabotage the collaboration meanwhile in my opinion Pakistan will for J-35 from China & after that it will induction of KAAN fighter jets with joint production line InshAllah...

The core part of the engine is ready for the test within a year as all the fundamental building blocks in the "library" are individually designed, fabricated, tested, and qualified. It's called GE model of designing turbo engines like "LEGO" models are built using "BRICKS".....
