It's more like we had the capability, but were biding our time.

Let's not get excited on unconfirmed, vague reports. How long range is 'Long Range missile'?

Personally, I would rather see Pakistan focus on space capability than long range missiles. Our current capability in that latter arena is sufficient for our needs.

With Pakistan's current political atmosphere, I personally think sanctions would help the country rather than inhibit progress.

You are saying that from 1/2way across the globe in :usflag:. I doubt sanctions will help the people living within :pakistan: in any way. And you'd invite the :usflag: to take a bolder and more hostile approach to :pakistan:. As it is, both of you guys have been at odds over a number of issues since the WoT began.

I disagree...it will be political and economical disaster for Pakistan if u come under sanctions.....
Looks like Pakistan was waiting for its turn to conduct missile test...
After India, Pakistan took one from the shelf and here goes the test....

All that media hype behind Agni V suddenly makes a lot of sense. Looks like it was a bait for Pakistan. Any economic pressure in this precarious situation will be tough for Pakistan. Interesting times ahead :pop:

Could be true what you saying, however it will be interesting to see whether west would want to impose sanctions it and isolate it even further !

.
will you care to explain how ??? :pop:

Pakistan has always done better while it was sanctioned rather than receiving aid.

All of this is hypothetical though, because the chances of the West getting strict with Pakistan are slim as they need us to accommodate their exit strategy from Afghanistan.

And hope the world community don't see through the facade. Izen tit ;)

Anyway two things interest me - how long is this long range missile and what will be the international community's reaction. Will it be like North Korea or India ?

Whether they test it or not, I'm pretty confident in our capabilities, so I'm not worried.

Even if Pakistan launch its missile or not... nothing is going to happen
first of all we really dnt need it at this moment
2nd as india has mosty recently launched her missile, Pakistan can easily say that she did it in response to India otherwise they were not intended to do this and as the whole world knows about the deep brotherly relationship of Pakistan and India. I dont think so it is going to cost us a lot.

last.. although US is bashing us but this is a critical time for them, they need Pakistan. They can bash us but can not afford to cut all the relationship with Pakistan at least at this moment. Any economic sanction over Pakistan will promote more anti US emotions among Pakistanies. US is already putting all her efforts to reopen NATO(40 countries) supply and I don't think they want to destroy their own efforts.

Pak may or may not have the capabilities ,but are you confident that your leaders have the will power to conduct the test without fearing the consequences of sanctions and isolation

only "daccan herald" has this news...
doesnt look authentic...
and pakistan is in no need of a long range missile.

Pakistan always had the capability of adding one or two more stages to an existing missile and extend the range..but it has never been a need of pakistan..still isnt.
i will be surprised if they do it now..only as a show off to india.

A long range rocket is not made by adding stages.High end material science , propulsion and Pin point guidance systems form the core of the missile and not to forget the weight reduction where knowledge on composites or hybrid composites comes in handy. I dont see any one of the above technologies in possession with Pakistan. Dont take it wrong, educate me if otherwise.

.
If that missile is designed to be able to hit Tel Aviv, it could get alot worse than North Korea.

Thats true , since Pak already has in its wares the missiles that can cover India this own could be for Tel Aviv

And hope the world community don't see through the facade.

The usual suspects will do what they do best. That shouldn't stop Pakistan from pursuing what is a perfectly legitimate goal of space capability. By this logic of walking on eggshells, Pakistan would never attain self-sufficiency in the space arena.
