KARACHI - Pakistan has decided to release as many as 163 Indian fishermen, including eight Muslims, as a goodwill gesture.


The prisoners, apprehended 10 months ago after straying in Pakistan’s territorial water, will be released on Sunday from District Jail Malir.


During the Ufa summit interaction between Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi, it was agreed to release the detained fishermen of the two countries.

This is the most easy decision both govts can take........ All the fishermen in each other's custody should be released immediately..... Not only that, those who completed their jail terms also should be released immediately......

We Pakistanis feel that these fishermen have poor families who maybe dying of hunger bcz their men are arrested in Pakistan. It is a goodwill gesture towards Indian people. These arrested are fed properly and released at govt expense.

Why do Indian and Pakistani fisherman have to be arrested in the first place ?
Many of them are just poor people trying to make a living

We Pakistanis feel that these fishermen have poor families who maybe dying of hunger bcz their men are arrested in Pakistan. It is a goodwill gesture towards Indian people. These arrested are fed properly and released at govt expense.

A kind gesture and a failure on our side.
We should make sure our fishermen do not violate international EEZs , this has happened with Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh too. I hope my government makes sure that these poor folks are at least made aware of these things.

India should get some leason. They can only release our prisoners in movies but in real only dead bodies are returned from Indian side.

The situation is not the same.First of all you donot release any Pakistani prisnor,if release then your release ratio is low as compared to Pakistan
