ISLAMABAD, Dec 4: A Pakistan Navy vessel named after Hazrat Khalid bin Walid will dock at the Malaysian port of Langkawi on Monday to participate in the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace (LIMA) exercise 2011. This year, PNS Saif is representing Pakistan Navy in LIMA-11 to be held from Dec 5 to Dec 11.

PNS Saif is the third ship of ‘sword class F22 frigates’ built in Shanghai China.

Pakistan’s High Commissioner in Malaysia, Masood Khalid, welcomed a full-fledged participation of Pakistan Navy in LIMA-11 and said Pakistan and Malaysia enjoyed good brotherly relations and both countries had close military and government ties.

He said the Navies of Pakistan and Malaysia had had a longstanding relationship and training-cum-goodwill visits are a regular feature to further strengthen the ties and mutual cooperation.

Such interactions develop an understanding between naval partners and help in establishing a more secure and conducive maritime environment which is essential for global peace, prosperity and harmony.

It may be added that the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition is the premier destination for aerospace and maritime manufacturers targeting the Asia-Pacific growth markets.

LiMA 2011 is not a naval exercise, it is a bi-annual air and marine exhibition held regularly on Malaysia's Langkawai island. It is one of the significant international exhibition in South East Asia with armed forces and equipment manufacurers participants from Russia, USA, Europe and Asia.
